TF2 Maps

    Never expected to write anything in here again. Wow.

    Anyway - unless I'm plain blind (not out of the question), I don't see a cp_rats to be in rotation on any server atm, and I would REALLY love to play it. (or any rats map for that matter)

    I probably wouldn't have an opportunity for it to be upvoted enough, but hey, a Mann can dream.

    Please add the megaman map to the vsh rotation. I think it's interesting although I assume there is a reason why it wasn't added earlier.

    We used to play watchtower on vsh, but it was decided to remove the map as it was a camp fest (afaik), also a boring map. We have a modified arena_well, not sure what happened to that (probably in the list of maps that are played with not a lot of players on the server). Comes to think, what ever happened to farm_feud?

    Winter ridge was canned because of the god-awfull optimization, loads of people had lag issues.
    Warebloom, Complex D and Nale are inside maps, which tend to not play good in vsh (because obvious super jump reasons).
    Faces, Streets and maybe snowdime appear to be rather open (think snipers).

    This is obviously based on the screenshots and not on gameplay, so they may play out better than I assume they would.

    Farm_feud and the modified well are both on the server apparantely, but are barely played. Well should be moved into a higher "tier" since it is pretty big to begin with.



    I didn't experience any lag. But if thats the case for other then ok.


    Nale has multiple open floors and rather high rooms to which Hale can Super Jump too so no problems there.

    Same for Warebloom.



    Complex D might better for a small number of players.

    We already have sniperfests like military_medieval, livingroom and warehouse on the server.
    Compared to those Faces and Streets don't seem to be that bad, since potential spots for Snipers are much easier to reach for Hale.

    Snowdime is actually mostly inside, the snowy part in the first screenshot is the only part on the outside.
    The inside part is pretty big too.


    Hence why some testing would be needed. ;)


    Edit: Any thoughts on Castle_Siege, Megaman and Remains?

    From what I've played :

    Castle siege isn't a bad map, the main issue is that there is some spot where engies can camp and tele away to waste hale's time/rage...also, the last time I played it, there was a small clipping issue in one of the tents at the spawn that let you build a tele inside (dunno if the map has been fixed since then, I played on that before joining LZ so it was +3 years ago)

    The megaman map is great as an arena map. It's a 6-in-1 map and it was already some big maps. Now updated for vsh, they look even bigger...dunno how it play as a vsh map though

    We already tested faced in the past and if I recall, it wasn't that great mainly because of hale's spawn. Hale spawn inside the little house in the corner and by the time he leaves, snipers can get a fine line of sight to shoot him.

    I beleive I already played nale and it wasn't that bad (but once again, it was +3 years ago)

    I never liked the megaman map, simply because its not "tf2" like.. same reason why i would not put up a mario map in there.. if the majority says "fuck it" i'll tinker about it.

    But if someone can just grap all the files and make 1 big zip file which has all the bsp in 1 folder.. then i'll upload it easilly (just share it via dropbox or so) safes me time too :) Thanks for that person that is willing.

    Can vsh_riverwood_v2 finally get removed/changed? It's a FPS-dropper for almost all players, the hale spawn is absolute crap, because he can get marked right from the start and it's way too open. Not even beginning with the issues HHHJr. has on this map...

    I'd say remove. I'm not going to go through the trouble of editing this particular map, because it requires a full overhaul to get the optimisation done right. Map is basicaly a big empty open space with some buildings that do not block what is being rendered for the player. That and everything being off-grid and horibly made.

    Or someone else wants to pick it up, ofcourse. Just not me.

    I guess some people know about it, and it's really minor, but there a spot on vsh_calamity_beach next to the underwater base where you can actually breathe underwater. It partly glitches out your view, you can't see any other players if they're not inside the air bubble and you can see through some walls.

    Should be a fairly easy fix. It's caused by "leaking" areaportals, areaportals which aren't set up/placed properly, or a leak in the map.

    I won't be able to take a look at it and fix it in het month of June as I have exams starting next week. If nobody fixes it before the end of June, I'll try my hand at fixing it then.

    Toke a look at it. The issue is just... basically the brush for water is not covering that area. Most of other issues are created by de-compiling. Might take a look at it, if anyone else plans to (outside of Darkness latter) reply here.

    162511 - Island. Done by fatboy aka pascal_pothof, requires some update really, but iirc it's in rotation..
    159643 - Party Island... all I have to say, different opinions of it.
    173265 - Horyuji. We had it, iirc too open and needed editing, removed until further notice.
    174423 - Palanquin ship. We had it on testing, iirc removed due to being too dynamic and laggy for our less fortunate folk..
    171622 - Spotline. I think we have it but a different version, outdated probably, worth looking into.

    Rest of them seem even just by images too big or too open (or both..)
    This is my personal opinion. Do what you will with it.
