For those few admins, all calls from all servers will come into the chat via the LZ Callbot. Please add this "friend" to your list. It will report all calls (so from any server) but pretty much everyone is admin on any tf2 server. It needed a proper update, today i had some time to update the steam api node.js package on it to work properly again. I think its now the vsh group on which it makes the calls, should change that indeed, but meh.. i'll do that another time.
It's good that we have a working admin call again, but how would we know if an admin is responding to a call if it's a private message to every admin? Like the previous system, where we could write something on the announcement to indicate we were responding. I have no clue on how this bot works, but wouldn't it be 'better' if the bot would output the call in an admin group's groupchat. Or wouldn't that give a pop-up thingy and sound when a new call arrives like it does when you get a new message? Maybe this requires every admin to get into the group chat everytime aswell. Never used steam groupchats before, so I wouldn't know.
I could look into it making announcements again like before, but i just got it back online so that was already a achievement for me But i know what you mean, would be easier to say to the bot "going" and that it would respond to everyone "call is being handled by x" maybe?
I think this is going to be an awesome idea. It should also repeat the message after a few minutes when nobody replied.
If you manage to code something like that, it would be perfect. Right now you just see either no admin at all going after the calls or at least three at once
I don't know what the reasoning behind moving away from announcements was, and I don't necessarily want to get back to announcements. The problem, as I see it, with this private call to every admin is that there's no easy communication possible between the admins who want to get on the call, like Pixel stated above. A second message that an admin is on his/her way could work, but it's more spam aswell. Might be better than no indication of someone going at all. I don't think this is usefull. An admin call is mostly for something that is time-bound for a very short period of time, or for something very urgent (like a mic spammer or a hacker). If an admin is available at the time, he/she should respond to the call, because that's what an admin is supposed to do. If there's no admin available (like in the middle of the night), we don't need a reminder because no admin is available anyway. If you notice an unaswered call, you could still check out if there's still a problem. Players will send in another call anyway if there's still something to be taken care off. (That's just my view on it)
We should get all sorted, as in.. get everyone that is a tf2 admin, have access to all servers. For some servers we have more in particular admins, like for example Matt for rocket jump and zeyon perhaps for vsh, but aimbots/spammers can be handled by all. We moved away from announcements because it was based on loggin in via the web portal of steam. This is not a perfect sollution and needed tweaking everytime their website changes, we don't have that with this bot. Also if an announcement is there, you still have to check the announcement to see if someone replied to it, having the bot reply it to you would be faster. (overal chatting with a bot via steam chat is faster then steamcommunity crap)
