HIJACK SCAM So Yolo asked me to help her. A strange guy added her to buy her unusual. Long history short: He wanted to be sure if it is not duped and that the history will change. She told him that she will trade the hat to me, to show him that the history will change. After I gave her the hat back he asked me "Does a gifted item affect on the price?". I told Yolo to delete him after I saw he only had 20 Keys in his inventory and not a single weapon or hat. She deleted him and I told her to look if the hat is still in her inventory. She said yes. After 2 minutes (she started TF2) she told me that the hat is gone. She didn't deserve that.... I feel so bad for her, does anyone know what she could do now?
Re: IMPORTANT FOR ALL 76561198117721683 "ZXC" No idea if that could help, but according to the item history of the hat, "This item no longer exists. It may have been traded or deleted." http://www.tf2items.com/item/3079005566
Re: IMPORTANT FOR ALL 76561198117721683 "ZXC" This is a quite common fake middleman scam. They make you trade your item to a "trusted friend", impersonate said trusted friend in a multiple users steam chat and make you trade the hat "back" to them. Are you sure you traded the hat back to the real Yolo? Did you enter a group chat with somebody who impersonated Yolo? What we would need is a screenshot of your trade history. Make sure to check to who you traded the unusual. If it really was her. I can not look it up as the accused profile is set to private. Also do you have any screenshots of the chats with Yolo and the accused account? The accused user has 5 pending reports for said fake middleman scam on steamrep: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198117721683 So far we have: Accused scammer: | steamname: ZXC | steam3ID: [U:1:157455955] | steamID32: STEAM_0:1:78727977 | steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198117721683 | customURL: | steamrep: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198117721683 Victim: | steamname: |LZ|Yolo Noodles | steam3ID: [U:1:168416769] | steamID32: STEAM_0:1:84208384 | steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198128682497 | customURL: | steamrep: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198128682497 Trusted friend: | steamname: Yolbe | steam3ID: [U:1:84178189] | steamID32: STEAM_0:1:42089094 | steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198044443917 | customURL: | steamrep: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198044443917 The item in question is a peace sign Tippler's tricorne, right? Re: IMPORTANT FOR ALL 76561198117721683 "ZXC" @lefab: that message is quite normal as the scammer's profile and backpack are private. it will only "reappear" once it is moved or sold to a public account @yolbe: seeing this person is a regular scammer chances to get the hat back will be quite low I am afraid. once the necessary evidence is gathered she should report him to valve using the report function on his profile. we will try to see what we can do (I'm on holidays for a week from Friday so maybe Camper can look into it while I'm gone)
Re: IMPORTANT FOR ALL 76561198117721683 "ZXC" What we need: - Complete screenshots of the boths trade history where the item in question was traded - Chat history also if possible Item in question: Tippler's Tricorn - Circling piece sign Popped up in a trade on TF2OP (looking in to that)
Re: IMPORTANT FOR ALL 76561198117721683 "ZXC" Iam 100% sure i didnt trade the hat with the Scammer of the Impersonating Yolbe . What i did whas i traded hat to yoble Yoble : ahahahah scammed Yoble : Joke Yolo: Dang it you almost scared the fuck out of me Yoble : okay wait couple of minutes Yoble: and ill give yuor hat back Yolo: Trade me now ? Yoble : Okay Then i got my unusual back
Re: IMPORTANT FOR ALL 76561198117721683 "ZXC" I don't know if it is a typo, but Yolbe's profile used the name Yoble when I looked it up, so did the impersonator's.
Question: How is the user mentione below related to the unusual and report? (screenshots of chat would be nice) | steamname: ZXC | steam3ID: [U:1:157455955] | steamID32: STEAM_0:1:78727977 | steamID64: http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198117721683 | customURL: | steamrep: http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198117721683
Me and Yolo did a joke so I changed my name to "Yoble". Just an insider. I DID NOT KEEP THE HAT. I did NOT trade it to a wrong person --> I klicked on Yolo's chat and traded with her. I DELETED the scamer BEFORE trading with Yolo(security reasons) " Yoble : ahahahah scammed Yoble : Joke Yolo: Dang it you almost scared the fuck out of me Yoble : okay wait couple of minutes Yoble: and ill give yuor hat back Yolo: Trade me now ? Yoble : Okay " this was just a JOKE. I traded the hat back. After a couple of minutes I told her to delete him and look if the hat is in her inventory and she said yes. After another minutes the hat was gone.
i dont have any screenshots of the chat when i saw he didnt have any game(team fortress 2) and only 20 keys in his inventory Yolbe told me to delete him inmediatly
What I still don't get: - how does the account you are accusing fit into the picture as the hat has never been in the possession of that account? Did he make contact with you? - how and why was the hat traded again 4 minutes after receiving it back from Yolbe to another account using Yolbe's name? - also did you enter any multiple users chat in the process of that cancelled trade? You don't have to have a user in your friend list to be able to trade with him. If he is in a multiple users group chat with you then trading is possible.
1) He made contact with me, saying that he wants to be sure that the history will change. Before I traded Yolo, I deleted him and told him "Going to delete you for security reasons" 2) I had nothing to do with other trades. I just received the hat and traded it back. 3) I did not enter any multiple user chats.
Indeed lefab, that's how the scam works. One of the scammers (if it is not an alt account of him) impersonated yolbe in said group chat. So at least we now know what happened. Shame there is no screenshots. If you click the 2nd Yolbe you traded with in your inventory history you will not be linked to his profile but to the impersonator's profile (which already changed names ofc).
