Custom monday, to vote or not to vote that is the question

    Hi. ok i started this topic to get some opinions from you guy's
    today's custom night went realy well thanks for that. but i had no PL map in the rotation an a couple of players prompted that they liked it if there was a PL map to play. so i began thinkin (yes i can use my brain if i realy want hehe)
    What if i changed the normal setup of a custom evening from:

    - 1 cycle with 6/7 maps that get flipped the next week
    - just ask admins to change the map if it's boring or just plain bad


    To:

    - a map-pool with a random vote system
    - RTV turned on (for people who ar tired of the map and want a new vote)
    - bad maps get deleted and new maps get added (pool changes from time to time)


    So let me know what YOU guy's think. and like alway's if u know a nice custom map just post it in the custom evening topic (or pm it to me doesn't realy matter hehe)

    If you create a pool which get's refreshed regularly you almost have the same setup as is now ;) with the added benefit of vote options ;)
    Go for it!

    That would make it even more fun for some, with the vote option..

    any ideas how big i should make the mappool and how often to make a fresh one? :)

    so i'm going to set the RTV (map changes on round end, if there's a problem admins can always change the map directly) and mapchooser plugin (the standard mapvote completely random) to work next monday. going to work on a nice mappool now ;)

    i'm thinking of making a valve-sized map-pool (1 dustbowl-type, 2/3 ctf maps, 2/3 gravelpit-type and a few 5cp maps)
    RTV, end-mapvote (random vote, last 5 played maps won't show up again) and nominate enabled. and going to try and keep the custom maps as long as people will be online ;) (think this way more people will stay ;) )

    ok last monday i had some problems with the vote hehe and server empty'd on cp_waste (for some a confusing map haha) so this week i'm going to use the normal mapvote (the one that's active on all the servers) only with custome votes.
    the nice thing about this is i can make groups. so i came up with the folowing.
    first 2 groups well known (past played) customs that did well, 3th group payload(race) maps (because imho there are not enough GOOD custom pl maps) and in the 4th group new experimental maps. and offcourse !revote stay's active because this is a standard built in comand in sourcemod that works on ALL votes hehe

    the new voting suggestion sounds very nice and i think i would give increase to the gamers on the custom nights.

    today went pretty good again, only after a couple of maps people get tired. so maybe put some stockmaps? or the comunitymaps valve released? in the mapvote?

    Put valve communitymaps in the vote to keep it ''custom'' ;)

    It was very fun, but as soon as a team starts dominating another, players start leaving massively :(
    Adding the communitymaps towards the mapvote seems like a good choice

    yeah same problem every week :( one team verry good other team sucks = massive ragequit :( and there are some nice maps we just don't get to play because they all leave to soon :(

    perhaps we could enable an auto balancer mod for the custom night to keep the teams even :?:

    this is the scramble plugin we have on server #1 (normaly all servers now) it can be set to work full automatic but the it scrambles every time so you can't realy have a plugin pick out inbalanced teams :(

    can't be that hard.
    have a mod count the number of kills on both sides, make the equation and balance out one of the top killers with one of the top marks.
    If you see my point, gratz. because that's bad explaining! :badgrin:
    it looked so much better in my mind but cba typing that all down now :p

    perhaps we should just take more action as admins, that when we see teams are getting scrambled, we switch one or two, or we switch "ourselves".

    FYI, "ourselves" meaning "i was going to switch myself but accidentelly pushed the wrong number" :evil:

    haha that's why i made the scramble vote available for mini-admins :D full admins have a menu for gscramble :)
