Have you forgotten about dodgeball? :L It's been a while since the dodgeball server was closed - just wondering even thow i know it's not your top priority at this moment, will it EVER be back online with the fast ball? [Dodgeball would be a LOT more popular now because b2b's server is down and not sure if it's coming back!]
Nope? Its online now with 20 players. Not sure what you mean about the "bit at the bottom missing". It was crashing this morning but I rebooted it and its all fine.
I've been wondering about this too, since the only server i can find is one where i constantly have like 200 ping. Ip?
What Alias said. We quit with voogru's version because it wasn't compatible with linux. The current version is very tweakable, so please explain exactly what you mean. The ip of our dodgeball hasn't changed at all: 88.198.69.252:27030
Hmm well I think what dave means by "fast dodgeball" is that we are all missing voogru's version of dodgeball, seems based on what you said about linux we won't be getting that version back  As for tweaking this version though I would imagine its going to be difficult because we would want it like voogru's. I think the main problems are the lack of maps and the way the rockets behave they are really boring they just float along the ground back and forward and once they reach a certain speed they don't get any faster plus you can't skybox them either (hit the roof with rocket). Also they don't go to different players randomly they just fire at the person closest and most of the maps are multi rocket!! battles last to long there is no single rocket maps which kill instantly so basically lots of problems and everything needs to be tweaked the speed, the rate they get faster, the turning angle/rotation and the height but by doing that you would have to change the maps or add new ones because they probably wouldn't work very well if the rockets behave differently like they do on voogru's, the maps are boring anyway so would need changing. Just get voogru to make a version compatible with linux and save yourselves the hard work
Yeah but he will change 30bucks a month for it again. And I think all those points can be changed by tweaking, its just finding someone with the right amount of time to look into it.
I felt that a few things felt drastically different when i played on the LZ servers Dodgeball. It felt... Slower paced really (Especially on the tighter maps, i really don't like those. I'm looking at you Castle!) and i miss the lack of big nukes to be honest. I mostly agree with what Noob said though all in all.
yeah sorry guys just so you know I am not having a dig at any of you I know you all work hard trying to fix things and spend alot of time listening to us whilst trying to improve and maintain your servers for us and that's a fair point I wouldn't want to be spending that every month when there is a free/cheaper version you can tweak over time, to be honest I didn't know he charged that much and I suppose this version isn't that bad really......just different. I suppose I shouldn't be disrespectful of the mod either at least someone created an alternative DB which is free and having said that....I would donate my time to help you guys but I wouldn't have a clue what to do :? ......... definitely best left to the professionals  I forgot about the nukes I agree with [I.S.R]Sona7a there are not many of them either (thinking of nuketoss now ) and some of those maps are quite hard to move around especially if there are alot of players on. Anyway thought I would just try to answer doelwit's question so that's enough from me you guys probably have enough work to do already but I'm sure you will do a good job when you find someone and get the time, just a shame really dodgeball was nearly perfect plus b2b and lz was the only two European servers that offered voogru's version and now there is none!!.....that and somebody has alot of work ahead of them.
or somebodyS doesn't mean there could be more people trying to tweak the stuff ^^ but i have zero knowledge about the dodgeballplugin and how people like it (i suck at it hahaha) but if there somebody who feels he's up for the job i will gladly help any way i can. (i also would suggest downloading the plugin and it's configs so you can have a first hand view of the possible tweaks -> this is how i started few years back and now i'm helping on the LZ-tf2 servers with lot's of things haha)
Yeah 30/35 bucks a month is alot of money considering you can run like 4 servers for that price. I think you all need to get together and produce a detailed comprehensive list of what needs tweaking, adding, changing etc as you can't expect people who dont play it often to magically know - and thats why it wont change. Plus if 1 person goes into a thread and says "I dont like this", we'll just think its 1 persons view and wont change anything. Maybe you should tell all the regs to sign up and post the changes they would like in a thread (you or someone needs to make), and one person be in charge of creating a decent, that makes sense so things can be changed.
best bet is to ask dave to do it the guy who made this post, I think he has quite a few regs in his friends list and alot of them havn't been on dodgeball since the changes took place so my contact with them is limited if you guys take a look at their activity on the stats though you will see it's gone right down its quite scary loads of them just stopped playing!!
How about making a poll and going from there? For example, the poll could be simply: Do you feel there is something that needs to be tweaked in the DB server? - Yes (If yes, please explain by commenting what you feel needs to be changed) - No
Haha I once tried downloading sourcemod ect from their sites and the free DB plugin however when it came to applying it to my steam files I completely ruined them all and had to reinstall steam and tf.......my laptop has never been the same since, never again ^^
That's not a bad idea but they would have to see this post and then respond to it or the poll and I'm not sure how many regular players actually read the forum pages which is why I suggested dave one of the DB admins ask around.I suppose he could tell them to come on here and do that that though or ask them
Prehaps it needs to go up on the main annoucement page, and then something in game which says a small message about it.
yeah I mean to be honest I don't really know what the best way to approach it is or what the best way to raise peoples awareness about it is or how lz operates on such issues so really its what ever they feel is the best way to get the information they need and how to proceed with it. As I said I havn't had a great deal of contact with some of the regs I played with, most of them have disappeared I just saw this post put up and thought I would respond....lucky really, maybe dave or fatboy could send messages to their friends who are regs and I'm sure posting a message in game or on the announcements would help but the only issue with that is you might get responses from players who are not quite as regular and it depends on if they see it, its still a good idea though worth a try
I'm pretty sure the first 10 in top 10 who have been playing for 4-5 days+ haven't been on the server since, It's just not the same dodgeball we all fell in love with... slow paced, really easy :/ P.S Any chance the 'Fastball dodgeball' would come back whilse using the new mod
