As you could see Drunken F00l started to earn money on tf2items.com
What do you think? I really don't want to pay $5 per month for virtual item's statistics :p

Neither do I, but can you blame him for trying to make some money?

You can still use the system without paying though.

I wonder what his target audience is though. Since most of the kids that play this online can't be any older then 12 seeing how they behave / talk. He won't get money from them, and the more mature people either don't idle or don't care.

are you serious about that? do you know how many 12 year olds spent on games? and I mean not the purchasing of the actual game. in games like Runescape, WarRock, CrimeClub, Soldier Front, Puzzle Pirates etc etc etc etc etc you can buy special features, virtual money or items and other stuff. and you see loads of people doing that. age range from 8 to 80. it really is a market, if your game is popular enough.

    What about Battlefield Heroes?
The same thing - battlefunds. You need to buy it to get more things in-game. So most of all players do it. Think there will be the same story.

Even though I would not spend money on it, I can't blame him for creating a premium "service".
It's not like you're demanded to pay it. it's just for a little bit more extra.
I can't really see a problem for it, unless it's going to stand in the way for non-paying users.

I think you are confusing something here. I can understand people giving cash to say Valve in order to recieve all the hats at once. That is an ingame item, that is something that you can `show´ to others.

This however is, as far as I understand it, your backpack on the site gets refreshed more often and you get a mail if you recieve something via idling. That doesn´t show anything ingame or gives you an advantage over non-payers.

That is why I don't think that, with the services he supplies now, he is able to get a lot of buyers.

I am aware of that, as a beta tester I even recieved some free funds. But still my point stands, you get something with these funds that you can show to other people. I think a whole lot less people would buy battlefunds if it only refreshed your background twice as fast, eg something only YOU can see.

And that is what I think that his target audience cares about the most. Having something that the other person can't have, or something that gives you an advantage over the other person. Neither of wich are provided here.

true, besides, those premium things(for Rune Scape, BH, WR) are for the game itself. not only for a backpack viewer site.
And Drunken F00l doesn't work for valve right? So you're giving your money to view some extra data about your earned items (from Balve & TF2) to a person who created a site for examine your stuff(and from others). sounds meh. :p

yeah that's true... but the world is freaking unfair, so that is probably enough for him to get rich... and if that argument isn't good enough for you?

    well...

2 camels in a tiny car!

    that should do it
