    drink a beer or two...

but the shooting is really awesome...i mean every time that happens the discussion is coming to css and other shooters (but mainly css). billions of young men and women are playing that game and then happens a bit shit and its easy to say then: "ah he was playing css, no wonder that this happened". and this is rly horrible.
i dont hink such worst cases could only be avoided if the surrounding and environment of potential risk factors react in time (trying to re-integrate the lost souls). restricting the game isnt possible, coz the lobby is too huge and too much money is earned in that industry...

thats a bit of an easy way to think so, its not really known sofar but in most cases i doubt people can tell whether somebody is about to flip out and shoot more then a dozen people, its not like there will be a pattern for it

you almost sound like your actually agreeing with the media here that the game does have a big influence on his decision to go on a killing spree..

he probably got more influenced thru previous killers like this and all the attention they got in the media then anything else
for cases like this i'm pretty sure its a last go for attention and revenge on the world that so dissapointed them, they can mentally mastrubate on all the fear they generate and let go of their own, thats their biggest motivation of all

in the end if our society's didnt cope with shit like this the way it does, as in keep people updated on how much of a social reclusive idiot he probably was and just gave him a very quick deathsentence, i think that would allready be a big step forward into maybe demotivating the next kid that wants to pull a personal jihad and see himself as some god, but for now, lets keep analysing all the facts everyone can allready predict themselves and wait for the next kid

You can always wonder how he got the gun in the first place.

Just put the countries where shootings happen most and the availability to guns next to eachother.

True, but then you still don't have the gun.
Latest update, it seems he planned to do it.
    Makes it even sicker.

His family had ~20 legitimate guns.

Said in the Finnish news that after shooting a couple bursts he shouted: "Aren't you all dead yet?"...

and no, videogames don't make people killers. That has already been proved by dozens of studies (including the one EU did lately and also Hillary Clinton's over million dollar study that made her look stupid since it destroyed all her arguments about videogames). Videogames do work as amplifiers though. Meaning that if the one playing is already mentally sick his/hers condition might, and usually will, get even worse.

So far no word from Warlord...

And I just think that what mike said in the longer post (scroll up) is quite true. I haven't yet heard of the shooting really, I haven't watched the news for months actually o_O

But I really think it's horrible that stuff like this happens, I'd be glad to leave school in a few months, but that also has other reasons :D

I agree that the media attention is more likely to make kids do this stuff than video games. The media shows that it's 'common', and that you will get lots of attention from it. For me personally, a fps can work as a way to get rid of anger, by blowing the bejezus out of stuff (so not in rl). Not that I would do it in rl if I didnt have agame though, I'm not that mental.

I am currently working on a map for TF2, based on my school building, since in my point of view it is perfect as a map. Just hope nobody uses it for bad things. There aren;t a lot of people playing TF2 in my school I think and I know a few, like Killvion and Jer9, and they certainly won;t do it :p

well do what I'm gonna do, collect medieval weapons(already doing that) and take a few to school. just for "showing" and self protection, that's is the beauty of the thing we are going to teach. those things are good for the lessons ^^

I had a whole argument with my teacher about games... he thinks games are evil... I convinced him that most games are to play with frieds and the killing someone in a game isn't really killing anybody ^^ but that there are games where you can rape people and stuf, the games who are really only about criminals, death etc which do can make people become a bit like that shooting kids because the completely lost the border between reallity and virtuallity...

Yep, but the games don't create this illusion of "virtual world" blending with "real world" in the first place. It's already in the gamer's head since being born or after experiencing something horribly traumatic. So it isn't the videogame's "fault".
