What "cl_updaterate" and "cl_updaterate" values do you have? Have you tried to make it a bit lower?
You found loss and chokes just today?

Well you see the things causes choke is:

    Frame-rate (Fps_max)
    Tic-rate (Cl_updaterate, cl_cmdrate)
    Bandwidth transfer speed (Rate)
    ISP data loss

So you need to check each. Advise you to start with ISP, it always mess around...

A few days ago I had the same problem, immense amounts of choke 90+, lag in heated battles etc.

For me it was one simple fix, the command rate was set to 2500 instead of the usual 60000 for me.

So what's your rate atm ?

Could be a problems with your router/hub by the way. Check if it's not overheat (just to be sure ;)).
Got similar problem some time ago... so I just installed newer firmware on my router.

Try bumping it up to atleast 50000, assuming you have an 512k/s + connection. My choke was extreme, maybe this will help your small choke problem. If not, you can alway return to 30000.

I changed my rate to 50000 and that has lowerd and choke and loss alot. Thank you.

Luke dont know if you joking but in console type rate then whatever number you want it to be after it.

I'm having kind of the same problem. Altough loss stays at 0, my choke is always around 50. The worst part is that i get one lag spike every 2-3 minutes (doesn't make the game unplayable, but is pretty annoying when dying because of it). I'm using a wired connection behind a router and have tried almost every fix/optimization i could find on the SPUF. I also tried messing about with the rate and stuff (but i really don't know what i'm doing with those commands). The only thing i haven't tried is bypassing my router (which i will try later this afternoon as well as changing my rate to 50000, if one of those solve the problem i'll let u guys know) My updaterate and cmdrate are set at 66, and normally my rate is set at 60000 (but not sure it still is after reintsalling tf2 2 days ago, but i already had the problem before reinstalling and tried different rates with no succes). So my questions are: How do these commands (rate, updaterate, cmdrate, interp,...) relate to each other ? And when i call my ISP (Telenet) what do i ask them? (do they know what i mean when i tell them i have high choke in a game?)
