I don't bother to google it because I find decent conversation better.
Also looking for people's tea thoughts.

So, I want to drink sweet tea, but most of the time it comes out bland, no matter how much I add sugar.
I boil the water, add the tea bag, wait 1.5 min, add the sugar, mix, then I add cold water so I can drink it right away.
Am I doing something wrong, because sometimes it's sweet and sometimes bland.

English people should know this, because you trink tea all the time, right? right? right? jk

Do a couple drops of lemon. And I never add cold water after, you only do that for icetea. Adding cold water after means that water hasn't cooked, which is part of it being a tea: it must have been cooked.

I guess that we are brits then since me and my fiance drink tea several times every day :p
Classic sweet tea (at least for me when I was a kid), Earl Gray + milk + sugar = epic
Then there's also Gun Powder tea, it's either Lipton or Twining, can't remember...anyways, it's also really good with some sugar ;)
...and also as Data said, never add cold water to the tea, it pretty much kills it...

Teabag and sugar in the cup, boiling water, quick stir + tea bag squeeze to get the flavour out. Add milk, stir again + tea bag squeeze. The wait for it to be cool enough to drink.

Some people leave the teabag in the cup as they drink it for maximum flavour, personally I take it out.

And that is a classic british tea right there. Some people put the milk in the cup first with the teabag and sugar, but they are just weird.

    Thank you for you help.

I've always added some cold water which was maybe the main factor that ruined it.
And Kittens also mentioned that you should add sugar before the water, I should try all of this next time :D
I think it shouldn't take too long to cool down, I've always been pretty busy.

    the way I do it:
    - Cook the water
    - poor it in the mug (I got a very big glass, that holds about 300 ml and stays hot for a very long time)
    - put the bag in, till color is satisfyingly red while giving it swimming lessons (never really dark) If there is oil on top: throw it away. Thats beyond way too long.
    - put the sugar in to taste

If too hot: wait till cooled down
If you want a flavour: drops of lemonjuice to make it fresh (brings color down a lot) and maybe a spoon of honey (brings flavour up) instead of 3/4 of the sugar (honey is mostly sugar).

    Milk in tea: yuck

Forget about teabags & forget about sugar.
Buy a bag of tea & a loose tea infuser so you can choose your own dose. There's loads of different flavours & mixing them always gives surprising tastes.

I never use sugar but put a teaspoon of honey in my cup after I poured hot water in it.

Meh, I'm British so I'm stereotyped to know how to make tea.
    The way I do it:
Earl Grey (Twinings is the best brand I could find, use theirs), add hot water, stir, add milk, remove teabag, add sugar and then stir.

Side note: I was drinking tea whilst writing this XD
