Hey, Well theres only 3 maps on the IR server and alot of people do say in the server they would like to see some more maps. Was thinking maybe adding King Of The Hill? Im bad with map names though
I would strongly advise, NOT to do KotH on a instant-respawn server. This most of the time results in 1 team spawn camping the other for 3 minutes long. Same goes for CTF. But some more maps wouldn't hurt though.
Considering some classes got new vertical abilities (pyro, engineer) and hiding in barrels. A desert themed map with height differences might work well. Try uploading gravelpit, badlands and maybe fastlane.
om a side note, if we could have dodgeball mod with those pyro rocket/blast and some vertical custom maps it would be awesome
hehe dodgeball is tha bomb hehe maybe ctf_toyfort_soccer (can't remember the right name) or something, you know some fun maps that don't alter the gameplay to much -> just an idea :lol:
I would advise not to play it at all, everytime I played it one team was always winning. Problem with it is maybe that all maps in TF2 are somewhat linear. There are multiple ways to get from A to B but in every map you can draw a global direction vector of the teams. With KotH, that new snow map of which I cant remember the name, enemies often walk around easily and they come from pretty much every side (especially when you're on the point. This results in so many directions of incomming fire that as soon as you are a minority you will be surrounded. Also falling back is pretty hard since there is no front line as in, for example, goldrush. The only line there is is a small circle around yourself. And thats pretty confusing for the gameplay. Maybe they can make maps ike 2fort or Hydro a KotH, with a central point in the middle and a team on each side, fighting to get the point into their part of the frontline, rather than a 360 degrees clusterfucking as I experience it now.
Like i said it from the beginning KotH is arena as it should be. Best map for Koth imo Sawmill (hate the CTF version tough). arena maps just isn't that fun when you have the sitout and stuff people like to play not get killed and watch the rest of their team for a few minuits. and ontopic KotH on insta-respawn? like Metamess said then you'll just have 5 minuits of spamming every round (deadmatch) i still vote for some (not to much) nice customs that fit into the FUN factor of the server
Reading back I'm sorry for the off-topic rant on KotH, but I do eman what I said. KotH as gameplay idea is nice, having to defend for a 3 minute timer, but imo that only works out nice if you have a clear base and a front line, meaning you have somewhere you are sure to meet enemies or friendlies, somewhere to fall back to if you want to.
They should have made the timer only go down when people are standing on the point. Or use a ticket system wich counts down when someone is on it. The more people, the faster the countdown. This mode leaves too much room for capping and then spawncamping the crap out of them.
very true. only thing I see is capping that 2 or 3 heavy medic combo's on the point almost unbreakable
Well in my opionion, fast track would work well. And maybe take the vote off, as EVERYONE chooses the gold map ¬_¬
hehehe yeaj but i think custom won't realy work cause people just don't like them for some weird reason (ok yes you have to download them ones)
