    We thought that they did come for a protest march of the "Linke" or "NPD", both very radical political organisations, both not liked here^^ Second we thought about was a football game..

    Not really, if there was thousands of people in the stand and a huge riot broke out, you're going to need a hell of a lot of police to deal with the situation.

    After some googleing I would guess that this took place last Tuesday, when an unregistered protest escalated into a riot. At least 1000 people where protesting against Hamburgs state government and their policy concerning the Lampedusa refugees. At some point people started throwing bottles at policemen and all that stuff - well you can imagine the rest of the story.
