So I got the money I was expecting and will cash it in tomorrow so I can now afford a Headset/Mic in preparation for the Highlander. The subject of this thread is to ask the community what Headset/Mic's they have and one's they recommend to a complete amateur in buying them. They need to be under £50 preferably.
I simply use my Canyon headset, which was included in a webcam pack xD it cost me 15 dollars, and I'm happy with it. As a mic I use a Trust mic, which cost me around 8 euro's. It's plastic, but also with this one I'm happy.
Steelseries is a good company I've brought a few headsets from them. I found one on Amazon for £36 which isnt going above your price range.
I would recommend everything from Logitech! I usually don't tend to buy or even use cheap stuff, but this one I got with a webcam pack ( ) works pretty good, though I've been using it for years now.
I'm just using an Azona headset (price range from €20 to €50 as far as I've seen, It's an Azona HT-280) and the microphone I use is a standard mic from Band Hero  It says 'Guitar Hero', but meh, whatever works, right? kind of a fail that they forgot to edit the 'Guitar' to 'Band' when they made these mics
Also you can suggest Mic's too, as I will likely be using my speakers for sound (I honestly play better with them). Cheers for the replies so far guys
I am using the Steelseries 5Hv2 for years now and whilst my mic has given up I still love the headset. Knowing the reputation Steelseries has, I only had to call them when the mic broke down and they would have send a new one whilst still in the "guarantee period?". Too bad I was lazy.
Did you buy directly from their website then to get a guarantee or did you get it from a shop/online? (e.g Amazon/Ebay/Argos etc.)
Since I don't use a headset very often, (5.1 sound rules! and I kind of hate the microphones on the headsets I had :lol I use a microphone placed on my desk. I've been using (quick look up on thee internet: ) this microphone for a quite a while and I'm quite happy with it, it has a handy switch with which you can disable your microphone if you're feeling spied on by the government (or by the people you're playing against in worms). Logitech is overall a good brand to buy stuff from
I have been using these for around 5 months now: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/Creative ... ng-Headset They cost me around £80 when i bought them, and while they are slightly above your price range even now i recommend them very highly, as will just about everyone else if you google around for some reviews. Even after a 6 hour + play session they remain comfortable and without hot/achy ears or sore head. My game immediately improved after purchasing them, as you can use 3d positional sound with them. As well as being able to hear spys uncloak from quite a distance.
£20 for a GameCom 367... yes I have had 2 of them in about 9 months but they are comfy and the mic seems to be okay...
I bought them from a retailer here in Holland. As far as I know you can contact the HQ, show the purchase info and it will be taken care of.
if you had the choice, steelseries, Creative, Razer, AKG or zalman are defintely worth every penny and will mainly fit into your budget. Personally i'd prefer either of those in compairison to logitech for example, not that logitech is a bad company, but i like to buy my products more with a manufacturer that has made a decent research about it's product. The best tip i can give you: take a good look at the specs, think what u want and think for which games will u be needing it. Depending on those factors, you'll be able to filter out or in options like: Triple channel sound, Virtual Surround, 7.1 or 5.1, Audio placement mixer, seperate amplifier, adjustable (and seperate) volume pitch for mic and/or headset. In overall, you can't really go wrong with a headset once it comes from a decent manufacturer, but there are so many different ones that it's best to see first what will u use it for, because u will notice the difference between a £50 Logitech and a £50 Steelseries. A nice tip that i can give you: Be mindfull how the mic is attached towards the headset, if it's a seperate attachment that u can clip-on the headset wire: STAY OFF! That thing will brake down quicker then u can say: santa claus had a little red slee and drove it over my mic or something like that. Also an important feature is the size of earpaddles, make no mistake, a comfortable headset is one that u don't feel pushing against your ears. You'll be wearing the thing for hours straight on so it's most important that it fully covers your ears (those truely are the best ).
Well, I decided to go for the Sennheiser 151's as they are only £25, someone from LZ recommended them and a friend I know has them and says the mic quality (which is all I need) is very good. They should be here by the end of the week. Also, it's Bank Holiday in the UK so I couldn't put my money into the bank so only had £30 to look around with. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-PC-151-Headset-ear-cup/dp/B000NOR89Y/ref=pd_cp_ce_1
