So recently I wanted to play tf2 but it said "Steam Beta needs to be running to use Find Server". Google told me to restart steam. So i did restart it. It started ti update itself which is fine. It reaches 99% and it quits, disappears, whatevs and whenever I start steam it starts updating and quits at 99%. Again, google told me to disable Avast but that didn't help. Sometimes an error pops up after the update: ERROR: Could not open file vstdlib_s.dll. (the fix that didn't work.) Tried running steam as an admin, still didn't work. Tried repairing with the steam installer, but it just gets stuck at the end. Spoiler I could go and uninstall this whole shit and reinstall steam like that, btu Id on't feel like redownloading all those bytes >.> edit: dafuq the repair just finished as I clicked Submit. now steam started updating again, let's se if it works or not... edit2: nop, not working
Tried verifying game cache? Tried deleting client registry.blob? Tried reinstalling Steam (don't have to delete game data)? Tried praying to the Steam gods? Pretty much all my suggestions for fixing general steam crap. EDIT: Steam Beta? Have you tried opting back out of the beta?
nevermind, got it working, in the steam forums they only told me to exclode the steam folder from being observed, but I had to disable the WHOLE avast program to get it working >.>
I'd guess: turn off sandboxing within avast for steam.... avast sandbox isn't really working well imo. Its nice for applications, but not for games.
i don't agree with that. If one is bad, then its AVG. Had several occasions where a PC had AVG, and was still infected after it was installed.
AVG is like a condom, its pretty useful and works most of the time, but sometimes it breaks and lets stuff through.
Haha really nice metaphor, made my day  Im using AVG for basic protection and a weekly scan by Malwarebytes, never had any problems. Ah yeah and Netgear for protection as well, but thats external.
