    Hello All,

Sorry to bother those who look at this but for a long time every few minutes my TF2 will freeze for a few seconds Then carry on as normal. At the freeze the sound usually stops but loops on the rare occasion if its a longer freeze e.g. 5 seconds. This happens with none of my other source games, or any games as a matter of fact and im just curious as to how i can fix this. I've asked for help, as most times when i freeze i'm dead afterwards. I'm pretty sure it's not lag as i have a lovely internet which runs at a great ping of around 15 ish and if it was connection linked i think it would happen on other source games. i have found a video which vaguely describes my problems or is close to them. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXKPutEv3Ao" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXKPutEv3Ao</a> Sorry to bother you and thanks for your time.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Dr. Clockwork

P.S. sorry if this post is in the wrong section im new to lethal zone and i'm a n00b in general. ;)

delete EVERYTHING from tf2, reinstall and start new again (your settings are in the cloud anyway) make sure you clean up your userdir with your custom stuff.

If that does not work, install the latest version of your video drivers. If that dont work, then roll back 2 version back and try that.

If that doesn't work, check if you have a new network card driver (this can also still happen)

Eventuelly to be hones, i had this issue too.. i ended up buying a new pc :) but had it before that too and solved it with the above tricks (for multiple issues)

Get on a server. Open the console. Type "net_graph 3". Take a screenshot. Get fighting, when lots of spam is going on and you get a freeze, take a screenshot again. Post the screens here.

Also your computer specifications please. I've had loads of problems with TF2, without having problems with other games, so yeah, I know what it's like.

i couldnt get the freeze exactly but i believe it is where the lines slightly separate, the game running normal is before where the lines separate.

As I connect to a server, my whole game will usually freeze for a period of 1-5 seconds depending on how many cosmetics are on use at that moment.

This happens about 30 seconds ingame and can be very annoying since it makes my sound loop and gives me a heart attack every time.

On top I get terrible FPS with a very strong machine, all that are things that

    CANNOT BE FIXED.

The game is massively broken and doesnt like good computers, for some it works, for some it doesnt work at all.

    My system is

    AMD Phenom 955 x4 @ 3.7 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560 Ti AMP! (so OCed to 570 level)
    8GB of 1333 RAM
And a pretty damn good 870 FX mobo.

I already tried exchanging all components except the CPU and the graphics card, since it started with the 560TI, I had a 5770 before.

I believe, even though both components are bored of the game, especially the GPU, that is part of the problem.

Before you come here with stupid tips I heard a billion times before, leave it be, I tried everything.

So basically, if your problem is similar to the one i described above and doesnt occur more than once a match, you wont be able to fix it, its just the broken game.

Panromir, there a a lot of problems that make TF2 do that kind of stupidness. Sometimes there is no solution, but sometimes there is. The above mentioned things could very well have been his problem. He might not have your problem.

But tbh... I had the same problems and I had to buy a new PC. Even after the new PC is sucked at first, but became better later on, not a clue why.

There is too many stupid little things in the game, I can run BF3 on high/ultra now, yet TF2 on medium is the only setting I can play it on. High used to run awesomely, however after all the stupid updates, additions to the game, extra pointless particles, it started to get worse and worse.

If you have a good, pretty much up-to-date graphic card, you're fucked.
Tf2 is not running perfectly on high-spec computers, deal with it. Just like Pan I tried everything I could (overclocked my cpu, lowered graphic settings in tf2 with chris config + settings in nvidia control panel etc.)
Nothing. Just try to live with it or buy a seperate old pc just for tf2.

As a side note: I can run every game in ultra settings without having fps probs, not tf2 though. Just saying.

Edit: That the game does not support Direct 10/11 is more than enough proof that Valve is too much concerned about hats rather than updating the game to todays standards.

I see you didn't adjust the settings of your rates.

    please update it to either:

    rate 35000
    cl_updaterate 33
    cl_cmdrate 33
    cl_interp 0.66
    cl_interp_ratio 2

    or

    rate 50000
    cl_updaterate 67
    cl_cmdrate 67
    cl_interp 0.34
    cl_interp_ratio 2

The first list of commands if your connection isn't very good, second list if you have a good connection (ie: it is faster then 2 megabit download)
Create a text file named "autoexec.cfg" in the ..\steam\steamapps\*your login name*\team fortress 2\tf\cfg\ folder and put the command list from above of your choice in it.

What is most interesting that the Choke reads "20" and that the download is 25K/s 25K/s is above the default of the game of 3500/5000/7500/10000 bytes per second (those values depend on your steam connection settings, if you selected there a slow connection, the value will be in the lower ones)

It also shows that the server shows a server FPS of 40-45 there. Either the server lagged, or the choke caused that. I think the latter.

As for cleaning your TF2 settings (no need for re-installing):
If you wish to save your settings, backup:
..\steam\steamapps\*your login name*\team fortress 2\tf\, and copy the \cfg\ folder there somewhere else as a backup.

    - Exit the game (if open)
    - Go to ..\steam\steamapps\*your login name*\team fortress 2\, and delete everything
    - Go to ..\steam\userdata\*8 random numbers here\440\, delete everything, this is your local copy of the steam cloud.
    - Open your start menu, if windows XP click the "execute" and type "regedt32" and press "OK", if on vista/7, just type "regedt32" and press enter. Then go to this folder withint the registry editor:
\\Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Source folder, and delete the \tf\ subfolder structure.
    - Open steam, go to the library, right click the TF2 game, select properties, go to the first tab, and click the button with "launch parameters" or w/e, and be sure to clear it, and put this in: -autoconfig
    - start the game once, and then close it
    - go back to the library, right click the TF2 game, select properties, go to the first tab, and click the button with "launch parameters" or w/e, and be sure to clear it

    Other causes:
    - Applications connecting with/to the internet, causing pauses/lag in recieving data from the server.
    - applications that run in the background, that use temporarily a high amount of CPU, causing the game to stall.
    - the latter may be mallware, scan your PC with tools like SuperAntispyware <a class="postlink" href="http://www.superantispyware.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.superantispyware.com/</a> and Combofix (<a class="postlink" href="http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofi ... e-combofix</a>)
    - make sure no applications start doing stuff randomly, check your tray icons. installed programs etc.

/edit: forgot a step. (last step in cleaning TF2)

Yea its because of the cl_interp stuff, I got the same problem here.
Try adding -autoconfig to the launch options, it should restore the default settings for tf2.
Close tf2 and remove -autoconfig again.
    Open tf2 and play.

You probably have to add rate, updaterate and cmdrate again.
