Except for the standard Valve maps, there are a lot of customs available on the TF2 servers. Lots of them are outdated and they aren't equally spread, for example broma_b6 is out now (with the final coming soon) & castle3 can't be loaded on #2. Therefore I tested a a huge load op maps, made a list and a combination of the best and latest versions of customs available right now. duel_nadewar melee_ringking So far I know is that it isn't allowed to play this maps on a ranked valve secured server, because you can earn a lot of points. Is this true or am I talking weird things?
It's been 3 weeks, and I'm doing an update on this topic. How far do you guys stand on updating this list to the server? Lethal #1 would be primarly used for customs and dustbowl/gravel/goldrush and Lethal #2 like it is right now, for goldrush 24/7. It's running great. There seems to be a lot of whining when there are too many customs (comments like "do you want to ruin the server?"), or when too regular maps like dustbowl and gravelpit show up. So it's a mixed bag, but overall I think customs releave some of the tension and provide a different taste. I don't know for sure, but it's worth trying them out and see how it flows. Much like in CS (Source), a sort off deatmatch map is great fun!
there are idd some good custom maps. but i'd like and with me many others a bigger mapcycle. now its a mapcycle of 3 maps. maybe add some more regular maps on the server. so we get a cycle of 6 - 7 maps, and when an admin is on the server you can try some custom maps and see how it goes. if they are positive to the players they can be played more and so on
Some people like to play Turbine or Meleebarn, but others don't, and vice versa for other maps. So please do not leave the server if a map is not your taste. Make the best of it, try to play like a team and win the game (instead of camping, whining or bothering other players). Criticism is good, but it'll never be great for everyone, except when we play dustbowl (I guess :lol. It's hard not to notice the fact that a lot of players simply do not want to learn the map and try to win. Customs aren't balanced like Valves, aren't polished that much, etc. I know all of that. It's all about mood during the game, if everyone would be happy to even play a goddam map, then even the crapiest map would satisfy. Besides, it's a game for all I care. Don't be too serious about it. Have fun.
