Proposal to disable the "kill" command on the DB server

    was playing tonite and it just got out of hand.

    ppl where only trying to TK eachother and a new guys got in the middle of it and got killed that way couple times. no need to say that he just quit after 3-4 times. Had to taunt 'm that they where too stupid to win, so they just suicided to get some proper play there. not long after that 1 went afk without leaving the server half in spec half in team (not spawning) made with balancer 1v3...

    I don't mind being alone vs any number, but thats just a kill fest for me. when I'm with the 3 and vs a noob is just a very short round... that caused 2 others to leave... and when that happened the 3rd left, leaving me against the half-speccer which didn't spawn. no point in staying, round is over immediatly and before sound is over new round starts... its just noisy.

    Think having the "kill" command disabled would improve the play on DB and prevent over-abuse of TK by suicide, dropping of the ledge would be too bad timing for it and the rocket/nuke folowing first a bit. The only way they can do it then is by running into a nuke etc.

    They dont need to be able to suicide to switch to another class, so there is no disadvantage for the players.... only maybe to change back from the backburner or to the flare from shotgun, but thats their own problem.

    (still a nice joke on newbies: "oh, maybe the Backburner works better for you, it helps you time it better"... and after they got killed: Oh you BASTARD. you gotta teach 'm all bout the game :D ).

    But... the kill command is a client command. Don't think it can be disabled.
    And if someone wants to kill themself, go ahead, that shouldn't be a problem.

    If I read your text it just seems to me there are so many immature players on the dodgeball that take out all the fun of it.
    Thats just to bad and maybe good admin presence might cure that.

    I've just tried looking that up in google and supposedly there is a way? I can't verify any of that though and even if it could.. people will still resort to other measures now that I think about it. :( I remember this one guy that wasn't good at doing it with nukes so he would actually follow me around the whole damned map and try and run into it to kill us both..

    I would find it funny if instead of them dieing when using it they would be forced to stand still and can't move or play. XD

    there is a way... i've been on servers where it was disabled. will look it up, and link/tell here.

    Steph, it could have been me, I get very fast bored on nuke-only maps... so I start TK by shooting flares & running into the nukes. And I remember vaguely your name. Altho its not my style to grief women (unless ...). I often just take the most annoying git and take him. (mic-spammers, voicecom spammers, stealers, glue'ers, etc)

    I sometimes slapped players who are orbiting nukes the whole time so they bump into their own rockets and die.
    Justice ;)

    Disabling the kill command because some players are so lame to abuse it isn't the solution, ask an admin to do something about those players.
    Works much better anyway.

    As I said this so called TK is a very fun part of the game IMO, and if someone abuses it he should be dealt with by an admin. Maybe DataStorm should get admin rights, he sounds mature and old enough.

    Yellow, TK is fun if happens SOMETIMES, maybe once per map, if ppl are suiciding one after eachother to get somebody its just annoying. and nuff other TK methods are there (flaring, running into nuke, distracting 'm by way too early blast so they blast in their nerves... etc) the suicide one is just getting abused too much. 1 guy did it 7 rounds each time, whats the point then? fun? nah, 1 time is fun 2 times is meh, 3 is boring and more is annoying.

    I'm 39, but have NO patience for idiots... I believe in 3 step way out: ban for a week, ban for 3 months and permban. After the first they think at least twice to do it again, after the second they either: didn't learn it and will see the 3rd strike soon, or have moved on to another game, or never do it again.

    And I would perm-mute all the russian or whatever lang they talk if requested english after a couple times, micspammers etc. And gag ppl that abuse the "coms" so much (every other second calling for "medic", "incoming" etc.)

    Just a kick is not a punishment, its just an attention getter. I dont believe much in it cos they just return after the admin leaves... seen it too much. admin kicks somebody, the guy doesn't come back unless its 2-3 maps further and the admin left. And then you go looking and then the couple you got in friends are offline. no point then. Cos I just look into my friends list, groups and nobody in chat of the LZ group.

    If at this point you still believe i'm a suitable admin...

    you can kill mic spam (if they use music and such) with a sourcemod addon.. (i like)

    incoming calls i dont mind, and i can live with someone calling medic too.. you get used to that anyway..

    nah, seen idiots who rebinded their movements like this:

    movement: message

    moveback: Incoming
    forward: gogogogogo
    left: go left
    right go right
    fire: medic
    alt-fire: move gear up

    After a minute or 2 you really wanna kill that fucker.

    I know, cos I specced the idiot and passed the demo to the admin of that server. He banned 'm for a week, and encountered him himself later and perm banned 'm.

    There's a anti flooder active on the server, so doesn't really work on ours ;)

    hmmz, maybe you should set it more loose... no more than 5 of those per minute, and then gagged for an hour
