Reduce the Autokick-Ping

    No, seriously. A ping of +100 is laughably small. I usually want to play on LZ with a mate but he gets constantly booted because of high ping. Isn't +200 not enough?

    My friend from America usually gets kicked because his ping averages about 5 over the limit, he says he plays fine before he gets kicked, im sure the limit could be tweaked a little?

    it could be that the people lagging can play fine on their screen but that doesn't mean it's pleasant for us.. the people who try to shoot the laggers..

    Ping limiter is largely pointless. Lag is far worse with packetloss than with a high ping. All it does is piss off people while barely doing what it's meant to do: Prevent warping/teleporting.

    I play a lot with him and he's never skipping around. And like Bill said it's worse with packetloss. I can play on an American server with a +150 ping and it still runs smooth like a baby bottom. Maybe one of two occassional skips, but nothing terrible.

    This, i play voogrus dodgeball server a lot (last time i checked LZ is only running speed DB maps) with a ping of about 170+, timing is everything yet im generally one of the better players on the server, and cant say i have ever missed a rocket due to ping.

    cant be, I've tried Voogru's too. I noticed that higher speed rockets/nukes where not possible to bounce for me, cos the lag-compensation is not calculated cos the death was already impounded on me and my compression blast sound still came after .... The higher the ping, the slower the rocket must be.

    Just to 1-up you, I used to play on the Internode servers for a few weeks. Guess where they are located?

    I played with 450-ish ping, but completely stable. No teleporting, no warping, no lagging. Just bullshit "Shoot someone in the head, watch him walk around the corner and die" shots. :)

    well we have to stop somwhere! i do think it is needed but i do think that a ping of 150 - 125 isnt that bad.... so we could make it a bit higher

    Hmm. Well, I've played a couple times at nights with a dutch funmix.. Against americans (on an american server). Fun times, but at a ping like 150, it was almost impossible to hit scouts as a soldier :? And as a scout, you couldn't react on soldiers' rockets because you are dead before your dodge movement starts to work. :|
    Everything you do happens about 1 second later. Definitely playable, but annoying and hard (specially for the person who's playing with the ping). :|

    125 is decent in my opinion

    compression blast is not lag-compensated.... so you have to blast everytime its going faster earlier.

    Normal dodgeball will work (no speeding), speedball... dont even try.

    why else I would get on top... I have a very low ping to LZ dodgeball servers.

    well i can tell, by having been kicked twice today ( :( ), that the ping limit is 120...

    Hey Cauchemar..... so you're still alive ;)

    Our High Ping Kicker is set at 120 (default 150). If you go above it you'll get booted.
    What's your average ping? We might want to consider raising it a bit but anything above 150 probably would be a no go.

    As test, I raised the ping limit to 175 on the normal TF2 servers and 200 on the TF2 Dodgeball and Prophunt.

    Of course I'm still alive, Khad. It's just that you barely TF2 and I barely L4D2. Does your versus round still exist actually? Wouldn't mind playing a round or two again. ;)

    Thanks a lot for raising it. And it's not for me - my ping is always decent enough to play. It's for a friend I play with and he got constantly booted. (I think his ping is around 130 or so) So we had to look for a another decent vanilla server, which is surprisingly tedious. On Hampshire Heavies is usually only one server stuffed and the rest empty, Recondos is also mostly empty and the rest is crap. Ok, there would be still the furry pond servers, but... I think I pass on those. .p

    p.s. i think admins dont get kicked for high ping.. i see alias (which has the most screwed up line in the world) with a ping of 600+ when his brother downloads :)

    i did get kicked for high ping sometimes, but that was when i was playing on 3G :) (yes you can play with it just fine, be the engy)

    limit utorrents upload, leave yourself at least 5kb/sec to upload for the game
