Well i don't know how to solve it so i tought why not ask the comunity because i'm only 1 person and well my ideas are limited haha. so what do you think would be a good solution to the constant steamrolls because of the F2P people (you know, the noobs haha) the scramble options (how the plugins scrambles the teams 1 = Random 2 = Scoreboard Scores 3 = A ratio of score and connection time 4 = Player kill/death ratios 5 = Swap the top players on each team 6 = Use GameMe rank 7 = Use GameMe Skill 8 = Use GameMe Global Rank 9 = Use GameMe Global Skill 10 = Use GameME session skill change 11 = Use HlxCE Rank 12 = Use HlxCE Skill 13 = Sort players by player class 14 = Plugin randomly chooses a mode from all the available also WHEN should the autoscramble occur? (not enabled yet) how many rounds should be a team win before the plugins starts a autoscramble? what frag ratio? (it's set to 3,0 but don't realy know how this value is calculated haha) what minimum time to win that a autoscramble happens what kill ratio? (now set to 1,5) avarage score difrence? (set to 10 now) number of dominations more oh and should we enable a autoscramble on roundstart (after waiting for players) and yes this IS going to get messy (autoscramble galor) but steamrolling just isn't fun anymore
the problem is the lack of good players. if only half or less are good players, you get steamrolling. and I've seen scramble plugins end server population on another community. Before it was quite full, and both sides got stacking, making interesting war. personally, I'm more for that ppl are automatically put in a random team @ join. If they wanna switch, let 'm.
From those choices I would go for option 2, scoreboard scores. If you're on top of the scoreboards, it means you're at least doing something right, wether it's healing, killing, pushing carts, or being an afk engineer with a teleporter. Random isn't reliable. I don't know how the score/connection time thing is calculated. Unless option 4 includes assists in kill/death ratios, I don't see it working very well in tf2 balance wise. Sorting by rank won't be able to sort new f2p players very well.
What Datastorm said really. Also, Wherever i go, Autoscrambling annoys the hell out of me. When i want to play in a team with my mates, i want to play in a team with my mates. NOT switch team like a ping-pong ball when we are close to winning. I've had it happen to me so many times, i want to tear my hair out. I hate, hate, hate it.
I know i've been so frustrated over the dang autoscrambler that i almost broke my keyboard on several occasions. Now don't get me wrong, i'm not the german kid who breaks his keyboard because his Unreal Tournament doens't start. But we played payload, and pushed desperately with a few dangerous gambles in the last seconds. We were about to win, when i got autoscrambled to the other team and then lost because i was transferred to the losing team. That particular scenario has happened to me a lot of times and got me blacklisting numerous servers since well... Those are one of the few things that have really ticked me off badly in FPSs like... ever.
FYI. The scramble on AM1 and AM2 have been on option 2 for over a month already. Only Egies with buildings would be spared. Admins, medics and all the rest of them would just be scrambled. The option to choose a buddy from which you won't get separated or the option to "prefer a team" is no longer possible.
myeah i'm not happy about it eighter but it's a big problem valve gave the TF2 comunity  thx valve! i don't know how long it's been since i last seen a scramble happen??? i mean the last few months 5CP map where such a close war that the end score would be 1/0 and going into stalemate. or maybe we SHOULD create 1 or 2 VETERAN only servers cause i'm afraid because of this F2P thing lot's of old players are going to move on and leave TF2 for the kiddy playground it's become because of it
To be honest, I think that if you want to keep the old guys, make a vanilla server. There is a lot of demand for it in these times, and the newest guys will be wanting their hats.
Why is Scramble only at the beginning of the next round? I mean..this isnt even funny to lose :| :? It was a Scramble Vote, no autoscramble :s edit: here is a afterscramble Pic and 3rd pic, from the end of the map... One of the worst rounds ive ever played, really :doubt:
imo the scramble should not happen when the last point is up to be capped. for instance, when on goldrush, if blue has capped the first, after that no scramble. If after that its detected unbalanced, it should wait till next part/round in the first 5 seconds of setup time or so. and yeah, I hate being swapped in the last seconds, doing most of the push work, get killed, and then be swapped. it promotes ppl to wait till the "balancer" has done its job, and then play further. Its better that the round has ended imo and that the next round can be started fresh.
Yea I agree. Autoteambalance should only occur when the round is actually over, I hate it being swapped to the losing team just because of some f2p players not knowing how to place a sentry.
Right, the scramble have always been an issue and I've liked it to the extent that when it was rank based it never worked as some of us were good but had not caught up to the stats top score. Then the new option is working, what isn't though is the F2P'ers going different classes all the time whilst regulars kept themselves to play a selective few depending on situation/happened after scramble. Ex. There was 5 medics 2 scouts double sniper a spy and me once. It didn't work shit. Team's got scrambled to some extent but the classes were pretty much identical. Now, directly after they went different classes and it went even worse than before. I recommend reading the things I wrote below. Was the intended original post. I find it quite amusing (like.. not ) to be the one pushing a cart myself, to die get teams-witched and then protect my cart myself, and then die, and then get team-switched back just to lose. My upward session. True story. I still stand by the fact its summer, people are not home and the regulars far to spread out on all the servers that popped up with the F2P. I'd rather see the LZ community go for something more in the style of teaching? For example my rage-calls could be cleaned up when I tell people to actually stand on the point to block it, not 500m away etc. That way we could quickly get the new guys into TF2. Imo the easiest way would be to have ehm, like damn its hard to explain. They're all in spec yeah? And can follow someone around the map. Offered once a week or something like that. Like, show them a live action match ^^ And I honestly do think a vanilla with SOME of the later unlocks would be great, the thing is just to figure out which ones.
I thought about teaching, too. Maybe we could open a topic with all the youtube video tutorials in it and a short summary about specific classes, a class guide topic so to speak
