Anyone else getting a 'Steam is temporarily unavailable, please try later' message when you try to start steam?
Is it just me, or is it because of the dead servers due to The Passing..?

Tried that, but didn't do the trick.

I read something about running steam.exe with -clearbeta, and appearantly that worked for a lot of people.. Anyone know how to do that? I guess it's not just changing the name of the .exe?

Do a right click on the steam shortcut and select 'Properties'. Then there should be a field 'target' in which there is the path to your steam installation. (for example "C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe") behind this you have to insert a space and then -clearbeta, so it looks like this:
    "C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -clearbeta

edit: worked for me too, thanks :)

    Okay I found a fix ^^
Appearantly the beta was the problem, probably together with the slow servers due to The Passing.
What you have to do to fix this:

Create a shortcut do your desktop
Right mouse button on it -> Properties.
    In the 'Target' line, change:

    "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe"

    to

    "C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam.exe" -clearbeta

    That should fix it ^^

Edit: Morrolan found it before I did ^^ haha, anyway, problem solved :)
