Idk if this is the right forum but here it goes: you have STEAM and someone sends you this message" if someone by the name of (Bojangles) wants to add you to their list don't accept it. It is a virus. Tell everyone on your list because if somebody on your list adds him or her you will get it too. It is a hard drive killer and a very horrible virus. Please pass this on to everyone on your list. We need to find out who is using this account.

Idk if this is truth but i read it on http://warriornation.net/Forum/showthread.php?p=131873094777

Own opnion: someone got by Bojangles

Sounds like yet another of those chain messages that completely lack a single worth of truth whatsoever. "Hard drive killer" is the cliché term to impress people with the potency of the threat and "a very horrible virus" is indeed a very accurate description for a virus that usually has some kind of goal.

+1, nothing to worry about imo.. Is it even possible to get a virus when you add someone to your friendslist? (Without clicking links etc..)

Just click whatever links you want, as long as you:
    • Don't allow unknown programs or scripts access to your system
    • Enter your Steam login credentials on the one and only site which SSL certificate is owned by Valve Corporation and uses the following public key:

Keep in mind that this certificate (bearing serial number 7F:A6:24:84:F9:64:2B:6F:24:A6:39:7E:5A:10:57:04) is ONLY valid until 10-3-2011 23:59:59 GMT.

Try to remember the public key, I'll conduct tests tomorrow to see if you've all done your homework. Security starts by using the right certificates!

also note the fact when you click on a link and it's a Official valve website, you will be directly be forwarded to the site If it's a non-official valve website, you will get a warning first which you have to agree/accept before you will be forwarded to the site.

No, seriously :p if it has a valid certificate owned by Valve Corporation and signed by some authority it's pretty much safe enough. You don't have to check the key by which the authority signed it, or whether the authority actually exists, if you use a decent browser, it'll take care of all of that for you. Just pay attention whether it actually says "Valve Corporation" somewhere, with a nice icon of a key. If the browser warns you because the certificate is untrusted, you may want to double check the URL or any firewall between you and the internet. And if the icon of the key is not pretty enough, you may want to consider using a different browser.

In unrelated news, I'm proud to announce that Jer9 was the first to pass the ninja test!

A nice example of a site that makes you think you're logging in through Steam WITHOUT an awesome valid SSL certificate for Valve Corporation is tf2-trade.com. I'll try not to be cryptic for once: DON'T LOGIN THERE, IT'S A SCAM.

Also, they're probably Chinese, since they copied the text from TF2 Wiki, the layout from another site and the only sentence they actually typed ("Our WEB will help to you make this proccess easy!") is grammatically horrifying. (And the guy who posted it on SPUF is named taskoda.)
