TF2 map cycle

    Hey people,

    I've started playing TF2 again after taking a break during the summer months and as some of the regulars already know, I'm back to visiting the L-TF2 servers :)

    I just wanted to ask about the current mapcycle, it seems we're constantly playing the same 3-4 maps: dustbowl, goldrush, badwater basin and occasionally turbine thrown in. Of course these are all great maps, but I kinda miss playing on the other great maps like badlands, gravel pit, well and hydro (how I've missed hydro!) more often.

    Are they in the cycle or are there any plans of extending the cycle (or am i the only one who wants to play more different maps)? :)

    Hey!
    There will be an automapvote where we can decide which maps appear in the vote ;)
    So different played maps will happen^^ ( we hope :lol:)

    tbh i liked it better when there was still a mapcycle... there was more variety than now :|
    i think too many players just vote for the most familiar maps while there are some really nice non-standard maps which they just won't give a try :(

    Well, every time there's a map vote on, I only recognize one or two maps from the five, so even I end up voting for the same maps sometimes (although I normally dont vote at all when the only maps that I know are one of the four regular maps).

    most people play dustbowl, goldrush, badwater. to be honoust its also the nicest maps too. Badlands , gravelpit, are ok, but i dont like hydro though..

    but letting the people decide also makes sure that the server is full. No sence in map cycle if not everyone wants to play it, then you end up with a empty server. Its good the way it is now, we all have a say in which map.

    I think the mapvoting is just great, allthough I do like playing something other maps than dustbowl or goldrush.

    The thing is that on some of the servers mapvote won't appear or theres only 1 normal map which can be voted.

    And about 3/3 24/7 dustbowl/goldrush. Making this server was kinda pointless imo. I've never seen people playing on the server since the change. It would be best, if the server would be just normal. With mapvote which comes in time with decent options. And I think that the best player size is 24.

    the mapvote has been deleted due lag and crash problems , so we are back at een normal cycle . the admins can use a command to set a nextmap if wanted .
    for the cycle we want to have some good maps so please give your opinion wich maps we should put in the cycle .

    server 3 was a test because in the mapvotes those 2 maps came up a lot . so to take down the pressure on 1 and 2 we decided to put 3 a dustbowl/goldrush server .

    I'd like to see a full cycle of all official maps except CTF_Well (I find that map too big for CTF, the CP version is fine though) and maybe steel and fastlane (but that might just be because I haven't played on them very much yet).

    Well the perfect mapcycle for a server would be
    1. Badwater
    2. Dustbowl
    3. Steel
    4. Goldrush
    5. Gravelpit

    The reason, why I didnt include cp maps like fastlane or badlands is because they are just too long. Its so boring to play the same map for 6 rounds. Usually either you win all of the rounds or lose.

    The max. number of rounds for maps like fastlane or badlands should be 2-3.

    I just love CP maps like badlands, well and hydro, because they don't force you to play either only offence or only defence at any given time. It's just a dynamic flow of capturing and defending CP's instead of either only pushing forward or only standing ground. I find that dynamic style of play much more enjoyable than just repeating the same actions, taking the same paths and setting up sentries at the same spots every freaking time..

    And ever since Quake 3 Arena I've been a fan of CTF style of play, so 2fort and turbine get my vote as well :)

    yeh i love badlands and fastlane aswell, tho Munqster does have a point about the roundlimit
    also love Hydro, even with its 90% stalemate probability
    nice to see Castle pop up and 2Fort gettin back again, only map i'm kinda tired of now is Turbine

    I would like to see every normal map from TF2.
    and the solution for the timelimit are admins! we are trying to make sure that there is always an admin around who can make sure everything stays nice

    I like the new mapcycle, alot of old favorites. Just maybe one suggestion, how about removing castle from the cycle? I like it very much myself (although i prefer the old v3 instead of v4), but yesterday we were building up nicely at 12+ players, but then it changed to castle and we only had like 4 people left..

    Maybe the time had to do something with that to.
    But Castle 3 was nicer then 4, would like to have that in a vote once in a while.

    I to think maybe the max rounds on Badwater can be set a bit lower...

    Hmm.. How about including a way to change the map during the round. For example Rock The Vote. If the servers had that, there wouldn't be any problems with playing boring maps for 30 min.

    Rtv sucks , we once had it on gg and almost every map there was a rtv
    so in the half of a game the map changed

    I played castle for the first time this evening and OMG IT IS WAAAY TO BIG :shock:
    I should remove it from the cycle but others like it so I think it can stay but just not to often if possible

    had a really fun game today on castle, suprisingly decent map in the end and we even had full room aswell i think
