Ok.. I'm sick of it. Since yesterday, TF2 starts up weird... It first shows the valve intro thing, in a low resolution and I can't stop it anymore by pressing a key. When it's done, TF2 minimizes, and 10 seconds later it maximises again and I can start :? Since I reïnstalled my computer, everytime I join a server after I started TF2, it either loses connection on "sending client info" (so it just stuck there, but it doesn't crash because I can cancel it), or I get on the server and 5 seconds later I lose connection. When I try to connect again, I get the message that my steam id is already on use on that server. It doesn't matter what server, but I'm under the impression that on a warserver, I can reconnect (only comes a (1) before my name), but on a public server It says I'm already on the server and can't connect again for 5 minutes or so. Spoiler help me...?
Did you reinstall TF2 too, or just your OS? Tried the usual things(deleting clientregistery.blob / defragmetning cache files / checking cache files)?
Hey i have those problems too! the 'steam id is under use' is because the server believes your still on the server *even though you disconnected* thats why you should be kicked if that happens or wait 5 min till the server notices that you are gone. (have this alot in l4d2 too, Khadgar can confirm that hehe) But i always have, that after i had the disconnection once, the other tries on other servers work perfectly fine.
Did you grant TF2 acces through the firewall? My brother has this problem too, only he's just minimizing on startup once, and after that he can play. So maybe you have 2 problems instead of 1.
I got the same thing, partially. If I boost up TF2 by clicking on a server in the server tab from steam, I get the low res Valve thingy, if I try to skip it, hl2.exe crashes, if I wait, it minimizes for a second, then it comes back and then everything is going fine. So I don't have the connect problems, but I do have the boost up issue.
I don't think it's that, my firewall can be pretty annoying about that (always have to start steam games windowed to allow it, otherwise i can't click it) and i've made sure it's in the accepted uhh..thingy.
Same. Yes I did, but now you asked, I remember something: Before I reinstalled my pc (and TF2), I didn't have the connection problems. I do remember that I added a line for TF2 in my virusscanner/firewall, something weird what caused TF2 to lagg and other weird connection problems. After I added that line I remember that all my connection problems were kind of solved, and I remember very long ago that it stucked on sending client info sometimes too, but now it's every time. Don't remember what that special line was though... :? Think it was something what valve fixed in an update later, but I'd like to give it a try anyway. It caused the virusscanner to check a lot of packets under TF2 or something, if I remember correctly.
i get a similar launch problem to you at times also were it minimizes then maximizes its annoying and i have no idea how to fix it.
Yeah but how about the connection problem? That one is REALLY annoying, it takes me about 5 minutes to be connected to a server properly. :?
ehmmm God hates you? No I really don't know. But I have my entire steam folder in the white list of my firewall. and I don't have that problem with connection
