Not sure how much of this has made it onto foreign news but there has been rioting and looting for the past 3 nights in the UK, mainly in London. Shops destroyed, looted and burnt, cars burnt on the street for no reason other than shits and giggles, packs of youths roaming the streets vandalising anything they come across. Some people have had their houses broken into and have been threatened at knife point; just for their purse. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=2 ... 3,8.453979 You can see on the map that the looting and vandalism is mainly contained to London, but has now spread to other cities. This was all sparked after police shot a youth they had been attempting to arrest; he was carrying a gun. The riots over his shooting have just turned into wanton violence and an excuse for them all to go and nick themselves a new TV. Personally i think a national curfew should be declared and the army brought in; anyone out on the streets should be detained and if they resist or are otherwise caught doing anything the looting then shoot them. Something like this is going to get way out of hand unless strong action is taken. Looking at my facebook this morning, im not the only one who wouldn't mourn the passing of the looters.
Frontpage here...Hugh money cuts by the government that mostly effect the poor + lots of poor immigrants and youth in cities. You dont have to be a city simulator gamer to see this would blow up by some random event. People that have nothing to loose are dangerous. London before after Spoiler But I agree was thinking the same when I read it: why dont you put the army in ? Paris had the same shit a year ago.
Because if the army come in the police will technically be saying they can't cope. Which they obviously dont want to say. But hell you look at the world atm. USA - Stupid amounts of debt. Italy - Stupid amounts of debt. UK - Just generally screwed atm. Middle East - War, soldiers fighting. Stock Market - Really crap General price of everything (over here at least) extreamly bad. Usually we get other countries to bail us out, but no one has the money.
I hope for the people there that the situation will soon be under control. German media even said something about 14 year olds looting shops and setting cars on fire
Was watching the news this morning, they were speaking to the chief police commissioner and they asked him about getting the army in, he said all options are being considered. Downing street are having their emergency meeting this morning as well.
Yes, we did have similar riots, almost 3 years ago. It lasted for something like 2 or 3 weeks but it was less violent (only fights in the streets, cars burnt and shops destroyed - no big fires like on your picture, or houses looted afaik). And no, we had no echo of these events in the news here (well I don't follow the news, so maybe that's just me). Let's hope these kids get bored fast.
Front page here in Spain too, here's a news report from here, no need to understand the reporter, just watch the images (from last night, it seems). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXeeo0XNZa8 This is bad considering next year the Olimpics take place there...
if i see these images then the police has no control on those criminals. stealing tv's when everyone's watching burning cars AND massive buildings. they should really let the army take over the city
Problem is aswell its not just London... Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham aswell. No doubt other places that arnt bad enough to get on the news.
Yeah vacation and parents that cant control there children are a bad combination, we had similar problems a few months ago, but very minor. Not that its all the parents faults, but Im starting to doubt it when I see some people walking around... But the problems (burning buses, riots on streets and helpless passangers) in Antwerp where...all "related" to sports (barcelona vs real) and we are LIVING IN BELGUIM ffs. Just an excuse to do some damage and be "tuff" :| So not only UK is screwed, I bet all is screwed. (hell the stocks are even worse) 2012....I'm still joking that maybe Its true now, but Im not to sure sometimes
Prime minister* The football game between England and Netherlands has been called off aswell... Shame, we would have beat you again...
You better get your act together old england, cos this saturday the premier league starts. If they cancel the events this weekend Il get really mad at u slap u silly!
"People are basically vehicles to just create money, which must create more money to keep the whole thing from falling apart, which is what's happening right now." The prices in Finland are fucking insane. I don't know how much stuff costs over there, but in here it's not rare that something that once cost 20 marks now costs 20€ (=120 marks).
Urgh its so shitty. 16K police out in London tonight though, that should help. I mean, even the wildlife is taking advantage:
Don't get me wrong, i don't think that what they are doing is right at all, and i do think that stronger action needs to be taken but shooting them is not the right way to do it. and lol alias Spoiler even though that is years old
You honestly think that these people bring anything beneficial to the country? They are probably the same people that claim benefits, take drugs and churn out babies. The populations too high anyway, and its only going to bet worse; we could do with a cull.
