Preferences -> Security -> Use Master Password This would require you to provide the master password every Firefox session, in order to access the stored passwords, similarly to Opera. I do not see how the feature to show the saved passwords is anything but a convenience, since the saved passwords can be retrieved in many other ways as well, which might just take an additional mere 30 seconds. If you don't want people to access your credentials so easily, then just configure a master password.
I'll have to remember that the next time I let some random person use my computer without me watching them.
*goes to firefox options* *clicks on security* *watches saved passwords* *sees emptyness* *yays* I never ever saved my passwords when firefox asked it. so I don't have that issue at all
Well, what did you expect? Any browser offering you to store your passwords has to save them somehow, right? And without a masterpassword there is no way for it to store that information safe. Personally I don't mind this security issue that much, if someone manages to get into my PC then I have bigger issues than my password for this forum.
