Hello! I'm not usually the type to do these kind of threads but it really bugs me that maps like crevice and turret get shoved down your throat like 20 hours a day when decent maps get shoved aside.I know that it's a matter of perspective which maps are good and which are bad, however, maps who have potential aren't even tried at all (eg. vsh_area_54tress) just because the playerbase is so picky over this. It is the player who picks the map, i am aware of that, but sometimes I ask myselfe why even include a mapvote to beginn with if all the players want to play on crevice or turret? These maps may be good but once you played them for like 10 times a day they just start getting on your nerves. Please share your thoughts on this, i don't mind if positive or negative. -Paper Doll Man
We can exclude certain maps from the vote, until like 10 other maps have passed since that map was last played.
Well since i started the vsh servers.. let me give you a runedown on whats now the case. We hade a !extend or something, that allowed a extend vote, nobody used it. it was blerhg We used to have admins that extended (although possible, i rather not have admins do that unless a BIG majority cries for it) Comes to the part that admins dont have to do it since extend IS in the vote for next map. I also tested a extend on position 1, this was extending EVERY map on the server because everyone pressed 1 regardless of the list. So i moved the extend vote to option 5. This however ONLY works for 2 times if i am correct, you can extend maximum of 2 times. What we should have after a map vote that it is impossible to vote for that for xx maps. And yes crevice is that good, a lot of people like it because its big fun everybody hopes we get some newbie that doesn't know that a heavy jumping on your head gives him health. Starts flaming "cheater" etc, and everybody has a laugh.
it's basicly coz it gives whoever is the boss (by this, i mean like Hale, HHH, vagi, etc. etc.) a very hard time. like on Crevice, pyros can airblast the boss down and they have to use one of them lifts (unless it's HHH with a Teleport Ready,) to get back up, in which people can stomp him, and heavies/engineers have stomp him while holding thier shotguns to get VERY overhealed/a fuck ton of metal, it also has good 'camp spots' as some would call them, on at the brigde, you see most engi's camp there, sometimes (like i do,) i build my stuff in the spawn, which is good with using the Euruka Effect (sorry if mis-spelt.) Like on Turret, the pathways are quiet small and thin, making it easy for aiming, at the spawn, engineers just setup a camp base around there, while everyone else joins them, some Do move away from there to this other place. but mostly camp there, giving the boss a hard time, but it also makes it more easy to use the arrows with CBS, as you just need to aim down the pathways. theres a... somewhat small run down about them maps and why people like them. :3
I do not ask for their removal. I somewhat enjoy playing on these maps aswell! It's just that these two aren't the only good maps LZ has to offer.
well maybe we can just block them maps for a little so we can play some other maps for a while, might get people to open up thier votes to other maps, could possibly do it with pool day aswell, thats overused too.
I agree that these maps are played too much, and I would like to see the thing pablosky said to be implemented. People should be more open for more variation
I agree with that too, the LZ VSH map list is going to be bigger (new maps comming), we can easily remove 10 maps (temporary) from map nomination.
if there are more bad maps, i can remove them. we have enough proper maps by now. Also oilrig was nice at some point but nobody plays it anymore because its really hard for hale. If you get 30 people on the server, oilrig is just to small. What we should also do, only show certain maps in the rotation with xx amount of players. No point in playing crevice with only 5 people. But oilrig is fine.
Well there are certain maps disliked very much so maybe delete them out of the map rotation? vsh_haat something vsh_dropdown (too opened) vsh_partyisland (no need to say something..) maybe oilrig cause it´s too hard
Aww sorry D: It´s just.. This map is a whole bunch of camp fest (3engies and pyros and heavys with crits stay in front of spawn).. Hale has no real chance unless the team is a bundle of beginners.. I just hate that map
I actually agree to 100%. Crevice is a good map, sure. But it gets boring after 3 map switches in an hour. It over shadows alot of other good maps
We are playing more boring maps these days then good maps imo. Also the new maps at the mapcycle aren't played...
