I just read this article about MS and the fight against Xbox 360 pirates. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/96037-Microsoft-Bans-up-to-One-Million-Xbox-Live-Accounts Although I myself am not completely innocent of pirating, I try not to do it a lot and I still buy games pretty often. Like L4D2 (regardless of the fact that its not/hard to pirate with steam and all that). Anyway I'm on Microsofts side here, if you break the license seal to mod your console to play pirated games, then accept the consequences. MS sure had the right to to it anyway. But feel free to respond and discuss. PS: I dont own an Xbox 360 or any other console than the Wii, which must be pretty dusty by now.
if they banned everyone who modified there xbox then I should know a few of the unlucky bastards
Well its not certain how they tell modded ones from unmodded ones, and as the article describes its uncertain how many people have evaded the banhammer (nice work actually, banhammer. Sounds like a big impressive thwomper )
It's actually hilarious that microsoft introduce a banhammer, when Bill gates and an other dude made the first microsoft software they had to fight against IBM (the previous boss of Bill Gates). So how did microsoft won of the big IBM? That's quite easy, microsoft was easy to copy and more and more people began to use the illegal versions. So suddenly microsoft was the biggest and IBM stopped with making operating systems. Than microsoft was fully against copying and pirating, wich made them the biggest But in this case, I fully support microsoft with their banhammer
Seems like they only banned the person with: 1. the flashed lite-on drives. 2. Playing the game before launch date 3. Chip that registed a onoffical game use It seems one of those reasons that banned the guys. And there are 1.000.000 live accounts banned! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33866696/ns ... nce-games/ The bans are totally fair: Xbox: One rule of using xbox live is that you can't use a modded console. This can result in a perm ban. User: Ok, clear Xbox: Are you agreeing with this term? User: Offcourse i do Xbox: <found modded console> you are banned from xboxlive User: *CRYYY but still the way is not totally ethical. At first its just to easy to download a xbox game and play it. after that ban your xbox is a bit useless for playing online. Microsoft should have made a system that was uncrackable, like the ps3. So i'm sooooo glad i didnt buy a xbox, but a ps3! I really love my ps3 (call me a fanboy) and i'm sure sony dont going to ban my ps3....
totally wrong.. 1 word: Marketing! You can blame microsoft with anything, but not with best marketing. They can even succesfully promote a crappy OS (vista). Trust me.. its not about the illegale versions There is also a version going around with the sony VHS vs philips v2000. About philips losing the war from sony because sony had porn and philips didnt have that. It just was a bad marketing from philips that made sony with the war.
It's indeed a fact that the PS3 is way popular than the Xbox 360 in the BeNeLux, but in a matter of fact I LOOOOOVE the 360 more than the PS3, maybe because I had a PS2... My ICT teacher set me in....
I still have a working ps1 and 2 and now the 3! But why Melvin why u get that box of Bill Gates?! Liverpool and Xbox u r the wirdest friend I have m8 me like wierd! What about blu ray it is a well known fact that the ps3 blu ray player pawns....
how do you mean piracy is worse on PC? X360's L4D2 have been already leaked, which means they just torrent it off and go playing it >.< They're probably already cracked due they aren't 'protected' by Steam.
Hey that v2000 thing ( damn i know those old video recorder) is somethingphillipes from anyway. Thing of dcc ( loses to dat) and video cd. all by phillips - fail. BTW. Bluray vs. ehm.. that other disc. Bluray won because of, again, the porn industry.
Also a fun story.. the bluray won, because, for 1 reason, HDDVD was cracked at that time. All rips on the internet where from HDDVD. After all movieproducers switched to bluray a group released a tool that can rip blu-ray. blu-ray and hddvd are almost identical: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 349AAfH2wL http://forum.slysoft.com/showthread.php?t=14786 That is a really good question. I think i can answer that question by giving this story: Valve was in the first place PC only. With orange box they have made the step to Xbox only. lately i see a shift from the pc to the xbox, for example: the demo of xbox's L4d2 was 1 day before the pc version. I really think its a $$$$$$$$ picture. It's for sure that microsoft is paying bigtime to make games exclussive, like GTA 4 DLC are xbox only. So basicly xboxgames can be hacked/cracked like hell, but if microsoft is pumping money into it.. you see big releases on it.
If I'm reading your answer correctly, you mean they're trying to get valve to make xbox exclusives only? if yes, I would be pissed..Valve is really one of my favorite company for the PC and I only own a PS3 next to my PC and I'm definitely not going to get a xbox360 next to it! It also reminds me a bit of Alan wake, that game is being made by Remedy (creators of Max Payne) and was for the PC and Xbox 360, the trailers showed off some new Directx 10 stuff etc. Later on it was only Xbox 360 and PC version became uncertain and it was up to Microsoft if a PC version would come :? But about that the X360-demo was earlier, I've read somewhere that the Xbox store is being updated at a certain time (like the PSN store always is on Thursday) and Valve wanted to fix some bugs/exploits for the PC version which could be used in the Xbox demo, which means delay for the PC version.
