Looks like he half-liked this game This review kind of spoils some awesome stuff though This is an awesome game though!(loved Indigo Prophecy too) lol, I can perfectly understand him
Well not completely. You have multiple routes to the end but always the same out come. That should ruin gameplay. At least... thats what I made of it
He's not criticizing the outcomes(which does change due your actions and choices) but the fact that the killer never changes from character...which I think is quite a ridiculous criticism just because you can take different kind of actions doesn't mean the game should drastically change the story, it's not the who-is-it boardgame
But actually it doesn't. It's actually quite funny how many signs pointing straight at the killer you miss during the first playthrough. And of course there are so many possible endings that I didn't get even close to what the game has to offer during the first two times I finished it (twice in 48 hours after receiving my pre-order...).
ehm i realy wouldnt understand why you would want to buy this game... i mean you can play it once, maybe 3 times for all the diffrent story lines and then it gets VERY boring right?
No. It's one of the best games I've ever played. 3 times means ~30 hours... that's ten times more than how much I've played MW2 and 3 times more than Uncharted 2, but it's pretty clear why I bought those games too, right? Heavy Rain has had quite surprising success both critically and financially.
Indeed, the "real" reviews were quite positive too! I kind of compare Heavy rain with a movie. why do people watch films over and over again? Even though they memorize the sentences, the events etc? it's because they really liked the movie, loved the story, acting etc. this is basically too with many (linear) games. you can play Half-Life once and then never look back to it again or play it million of times even though it's a linear game. Heavy Rain is linear, but has more dynamical story than most other game,(not counting Indigo Prophecy since it was from the same developer) even though you know the story already with you played it once, you can still influence how it ends and what happens in the second run. that's the great thing about this game. you feel a lot more like you're part of the game. it's fun to see what happened if you did it differently! Man, it looked so much smaller in quick post =(
