    you have to take first parentheses (9+3) and its 12.
    then take 48/2 and that is 24.
    after that multiply 24 with 12. 24 * 12 = 288

    The answer you got first was right, it's 288, no worries. These stubborn people just don't get that the have to multiply by the bracket, and not to divide by it. :D
