Cany say BC2 is helping me fill the server atm, but yeah, people just dont want custom maps on our servers I guess because they know other modded servers with custom maps.
nope it's because they are to lazy to get to know the map... first thing i noticed on custom nights, put a 5cp linianair (cp_japan) it staid full the whole time... why? you didn't need directions it's allmost a copy of granary a other more detailed and bigger map came after and it empty'd within minuits because people were getting stuck and didn't find there way. so maybe do a custom night every week (maybe more then 1 night) and keep that cycle for a couple of weeks so players get to know the maps and maybe use them (some) on the normal servers as option (like swiftwater)
That's true, people just don't want to get to know the map. Actually we should think of something that makes people want to know the map.. I agree with Killvion, mostly when a custom map is running on LZ servers, everybody leaves, even LZ members. We should just think of something to lure people into the maps, and make them want to stay instead of leave again.. maybe some sort of 'reward' in a mild way, so nothing big, but just a 'thanks for playing on a custom map on our server' thingy
that sounds quite good....rewarding players for playing different to custom maps...maybe double points or something when a custom( or a rarely played one) map is chosen and played on? or only one round in the game? this way people might start thinking choosing it more for points.... I don't know if its possible and is probably not really fair in the points system. (I kind of got my idea by the Uncharted 2 Double cash weekendsXD)
wel as soon as i find some more time i'll (re) organise the custom evenings and i'll try it so that all maps get a chance to get played (the 2nd week i'll delete the bad maps and the one's that just don't work) just don't get to over exided haha to much custom maps is again to much goodness :lol: i think maybe something like 5 custom maps in the whole cycle, so people who attend custom night start knowing the map the first week, and the next 2/3 weeks we will keep playing with the same mappool and pick a map (or 2,3) that we realy realy like. and try to win over the people to start playing the map that way some admins and some regs and some random people join in play the map, like it, and get a chance to play it more often cause playing a super custom map allone sucks (trust me i played ALL maps before i used them for custom night haha)

the nice thing about custom night's it's a event so people are more drawn to it then to a total custom map server wich are always empty haha. and it will be done on a allready (well in most cases haha) full server but we'll notifie with hint message's and the adds will inform people that custom night is about to start on server #. most of the time's it stay's full enough but a bad map can suck it dry instantly. so RTV will be on at a lower percentage then normal (looking to make a executable .CFG to install on the server so i can change everything without forgetting anything) will keep you posted cause still litle busy here with other stuff
Sooth to say but I play on LZ servers precisely because of Badwater and Goldrush. I know that there are more good maps round here but anyway
Goldrush and Badwater are good maps but playing them nonstop.. no no no. I'd like to see more well, badlands (scoutrush kekekeke) and perhaps other maps suitable for publics. Freight doesn't work that well from my opinion. And then again doublecross seems to empty servers, don't know why - I think it's an excellent new map!
filling the servers 10 times more... yeah great improvement :roll: and this is exactly the most fucked up thing... you do everything you can to please the biggest amount of people... but there always seems to be an even bigger group that once the opposite of what you do. can't even think about how shitty that must feel for doelwit tbh :S
But at least more people starts to play different maps then only those. I rather help and fill and play different maps then sticking with the old ones and get worn out on the game... I am relieved to actually see the other maps and color patterns again. Unfortunately the world is unfair, we can't please everyone.
TF2 in general has really been boring me recently, nothing wrong with the map rotation, the game just feels more frustrating than ever and I feel like allotting my time to different less frustrating things.
it's some of the new weapons haha like the gunboats xD damn those thing's are anoying same with Direct HIT problem is most people spam the hell out of it and sometimes get a lucky shot... (i said MSOT people there are some people who are damn good with it) o yeah and pyro's hahaha even if they don't hit me i catch fire xD on those day's i play zombiemod (wich is kinda anoying deu to demo's running around with the sword and shield) or prophunt always cheers me up
I don't know if anything has been changed in the rotation lately, but it has been a lot better! I've actually seen customs like frontline and swiftwater popping up regularly, very nice.
Haha yeah, The direct hit and equaliser annoy me lots, Same as being sniped from miles away without a way to counter attack XD Playing Medic always cheers me up though! I want to try Prop hunt, it looks like a giant gory version of hide and seek!
