think were back at this one again... and now it's not because they ALWAYS choose goldrush or dustbowl or badwater because they want to but now it's because they have no other choice... lately i botherd me that every vote looked the same... 2 fort in the vote allmost 5 maps after each other. most vote's just plain suck IMHO. i know i'm going to get flamed at again for posting this (again) but people now are FORCED to play swiftwater... now again it sucked the server completely dry again... so why did it change? last vote i made work fine if i remember corectly :s 2 populare maps 1 not so populare 1 custom/other map i never seen any complaints after that vote was installed, well till now. old players like to see steel again. people playing maps because they have no choice then to vote for the LEAST sucking map -> ctf_doublecross/2fort and most complain about ctf :roll: but again it's just me getting tired of those stupid maps and not getting ANY brake from them (exept for a more anoying map or a custom map that just doesn't work)
I still have some hope that Valve finds a way to support some more maps or something. Make them more popular. I dunno... but the servers seems to be emptying on dustbowl these days.
this was my old setup for the vote, in my head it worked fine, and on the server well i didn't here anyone complaing (i will give some info in the bottem how it works hehe) "Group 1" { "slots" "2" "cp_dustbowl" {} "cp_gravelpit" {} "cp_gorge" {} "pl_hoodoo_final" {} "pl_badwater" {} "pl_goldrush" {} } "Group 2" { "slots" "1" "cp_badlands" {} "cp_egypt_final" {} "cp_fastlane" {} "ctf_2fort" {} "cp_fastlane" {} "cp_yukon_final" {} "cp_steel" {} } "Group 3" { "slots" "1" "cp_amsterdam_b1" {} "cp_freight_final1" {} "cp_well" {} "ctf_turbine" {} "plr_whalerace_a4a" {} "plr_pipeline" {} "pl_swiftwater" {} "ctf_doublecross" {} } as you can see there are "3" groups, we used to have 4 options (better imo so you can have a more variable vote) first group are the populare maps, thats why i put 2 of that group in every vote (random) second group the less populare maps, 1 every vote (to give some change) thirth group even less populare and custom maps (for regulars and people WANTING something else for a change) in theory you can give the maps variables enabling them to, F.E. when there are less then 10 players in the server cp_well,pl_hoodoo,ctf_turbine,etc would not be displayed. this should work but the current vote has this system enabled and like i experience it, it just doesn't work at all
I think I could make more sense of the full code if i saw it Im guessign the more players, the higher the group it changes to... Tbh, goldrush should be in group 2
nono it's just 2 maps from the first group, and 1 of the 2nd and 3th group so for example the vore looks like 1. group1 map 2. group1 map 3. group2 map 4. group3 map 5. extend current map it suppose to also work when you block a map untill X amount of people are on it but i think that system just doesnt work like it should an so giving us 9/10 crappy vote's with the same maps every time
ah PLEASE not this shit al over again. Just come up with a few maps who don't get voted anyway and we'll put them in the vote and not again a total new "i have the best idea how it should be for the vote" because people always complain. Mapvote reverted to the old vote. seriously getting fed up with this.
if this is the OLD mapvote i'm the easterbunny... but hey that's just me. just saying the vote we had before the IP update worked fine... :roll:
i found what was causing the alway's the same vote's xD khadgar weighted some maps to minium players but didn't do it to all of them resulting that the vote always picked the same maps and swapping the last used (well i think it works haha sure looks like a vote that worked to me ) and doel it was not realy about goldwater cycle but about the vote being the same all the time :lol:
What about a nominate function? And I would suggest that you put the timelimit for ctf maps from 30min to 20min or something like that. Only a suggestion...
downside is "nominate" works for RTV only cause that would be one AWSOME solution to people asking for specific maps (like steel and well F.E.)
I'm not familiar with the popup commando's of the nextmapvote, so don't shoot me if I'm wrong, but can't you replace the nextmapvote with a rtv? So 5 min before timeleft or something near that, a rtv pops up, instead of the nextmapvote?
but i was planning (with khadgar where ever he is) to ste the percentage for RTV to around 40/30% so it's used more on maps people don't like
Thank you for adding pl_thundermountain and pl_upward to the payload list of maps. Both maps are great and add diversity to payload loving pubbers (which I am too). On the contrary, plr_hightower should be offered less often as it gets stale very soon.
Well Upward and Thundermountain sure are great maps but they are played very often too ! Anyway the problem won't be solved unless ppl start to vote for costum maps ;(
on the payload server, hightower is in the vote too much... no other map is in the vote as often! And it's very often the only official map in the vote, so players that don't know the custom map vote for that one. Not because they want to play it, but because they don't know the other maps. Those who want to play a different map, choose one of the other maps, and split the votes between them, which leads to hightower winning... and i don't like hightower (or plr for that matter). so.. is it possible to have it pop up in the vote a little less? then that's something less to hear me whine about on teamspeak
