somehow i knew valve would release coldfront (if they didn't well then they were even bigger idiots then it first tought haha) when i first played this map (way back in the alpha stage) i realy liked it (playstyle) and after he finished the datailing everybody was like "WOOOOOW  frickin awsom midd-CP) realy a qualitymap (unlike that gravelpit styled piece of shit they released the first time  )
i can hardly wait to get some time with the new toys tonight (after some achievment farming to unlock em) the combat sentry is a nice idea, though with the new pre-fabrication method for buildings (build'n Haul) it isn't quite as necessary anymore. a pre-fabricated lvl 1 sentry builds just as fast as the mini-sentry (pre-fabricated buildings set-up time is cut in half after hauling, and is down to a quarter if you whack it), but has double the damage to show for it (128 dps compared to the 64 of the combatsentry if you use wrangler). downside is of course that you're not quite as flexible, and you're slow as a fatman and unarmed while hauling stuff around. the build'n haul approach also opens up a new defense set-up tactic. if you got two engies, when setup starts one builds the usual entrance, runs to the front and builds his exit. the other engie meanwhile stays at the spawn, sets up an exit and starts building his shit right there. as soon as the first guys teleport goes online he jumps through, with his pre-fabricated entrance, effectively building a two way porter. this removes any metal-limits you would have while building on the frontline, and after you got two sets of lvl3 buildings you just haul em where you want em, including new placements for the teleporters. also, if you see an uber coming thats gonna kill all your stuff, just grab the dispenser and run away. if you have to start your nest from scratch, having a lvl3 disp to start with makes the rest just that much easier. all in all BnH will change the gameplay a lot more than any of the other new toys i'd say.
crap, why didn't i thought about it in that way, I always ran away with my sentry, yelling 'cya!' thanks for the tip^^
I didn't recognize TF2 anymore. blu and red rounds hanging everywhere because sometimes the sentry is gone, but the bubble isn't. laser lines EVERYWHERE. attacking with 5 engies... yeah right. see you guys in a few days or weeks. this sucks ass I'll be playing something else also I think that the scout is the one who suffers the most. Because there are now random sentries everywhere, and with the wrangler. the range limit is gone. So you can't move around with your little health and without the ability to effectively destroy sentries. aka /me is fucked
i just hate the mapcycle :s everybody wants to play that shit PLR map god i hope we can remove that from the list... why the fuck did valve make new PLR map :s didn't they learn ANYTHING from the past mistakes (pipeline? anyone?)
I juggled an uber with the wrangler today. I like this toy, it makes me play a soldier when all soldier slots are full
If i would post all posts of kickthebucket after an tf2 update behind each other a pattern will be obvious
haha nah... only thing i hate about this update is the PLR map the rest is prety funny xD the wrangler actualy requires skills  the tauntkills are awsome, so best update after the medic Spoiler and offcourse i LOVE Icarus's Coldfront he realy made a valve grade map (even better actualy)
Everyone that can't wait to get 17 achievs, you can also craft the wrangler by getting a secondairy slot token (3 2nd slot weapons), an engi token (create a token for another class and combine it with 1 engineer weapon, the shotgun or the wrench for example) and a scrap metal ^^ Just for the ones that can't wait to unlock the achievements =] I love the update, can't wait till I can actually play engi in one of our servers ^^ Already played about 10 minutes today hehe.. xD And the new maps are awesome Payload race indeed is pretty.. 'different' though, I don't know if I really like it x)
I went demo and was mvp all the time. and I suck as demo. just spam everything and get yourself a kritz medic. easy for everyone. getting over 200 points in the new payload maps isn't that hard for demo now. there is a sentry around each and every corner
well what you expect? IT'S A FRIKKING ENGINEER UPDATE, ENGINEERS EVERYWHERE TRYING TO GET NEW WEAPONS! if you really don't like having many same classes during a match, don't play during the first weeks of the update. wait till the hype fades away again. ^^ that or maybe lessen the engineers a bit moar.
+1 Had the same feeling today too. Would be best to limit the engineer to two/team, but heh, just my two cents. @Bucket: What do you exactly don't like about the PLR map?
dunno the constant stalemating feeling i get on the maps, like today on hightower we were playing 15 minuits it felt like an hour. i kinda like the badwater style new map thundermountain is ok but the last part is kinda pro-defence but hey matt was sniping could have been hiss fault xD
been plying on the payload server the whole eveneing, and what i found really funny was that at some times the defenders had their 4 engis all running around with the combat sentry while the blue team had 2 or 3 engis with real sentries who were constantly moving up, pretty much completely boxing in the defensers. they couldn't go anywhere cause there were 3 blue lvl 3 sentries around while they themselves only had these little toys standing there. it's really awesome the way you can just carry that fat sentry with you, and dispenser and shit.
nice update... the thing that bothers me is the bleeding effect, 1/3th of the classes can do afterdamage now and i find that a shame for my dear pyro
Yeah I find that a mismatch too, the pyro should be the only one doing DoT. Or all the sharp melee weapons should have bleed.
well it does have a serious downside, less fire resistant so if u see a BB pyro you better run like hell (camping your sentry when a uber pyro comes make's you instantly brown bread haha) and on the moving around it's nice and they counterd it with slow speed, defending engineers on attack mode and vice versa is common this week, let them have fun with their toy's next week or so people will start using this tacticly
no i think that if we would limit the engineer class even more people will just go on another server to play engi there... and i like the long lasting maps, just like 2fort or somthin, you can score lots of points! unless your name is kick the bucket, in that case you would just fail over and over again
