+ its gonna be more cheaters. Game is free, just make a new account and cheat again. -- Sypermann 8) p.s soon its going to the same with counter-strike games. i think so in the next 5years its gonna happen. that will be really sad and bad for Valve, most played game on steam goes free. no no no.. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________
thats what i see happening in the near future, css going F2P to. think the impact would be even worse then on TF2 (i'm a css noob i have it but don't play)
I'm not too sure about that, TF2 went F2P because of the Mann. Co Store gathering more money than the game itself. And CS:S doesn't have anything like that.
also treu. aaaand css is WAY older then TF2. but if this keeps up even i'm going to put TF2 on the shelf for a while you can allmost say it's fubar
I say a big NAY!! We are succeptible to dicrimination... You, I BOUGHT the game, have you? No, too bad. See this conversation coming already? I ALWAYS look at things from the worst possible angle. Then I make my decision when I considered the worst. This gives you more leeway when something DOES go bad. My decision is: keep playing. (I have all those items, I even have some refined metal now! And yesterday crafted my very first thing: Tomislav. woopee!!) I actually have a negative feeling about TF2 F2P... It looks like Valve got enough cash from the sale of games (and Orange Boxes) coupled with those stupid enough to pay for items ingame... And as such Valve can say: "hey, we made a ton of cash so why not lets make TF2 F2P..." And that way giving us paying players (who got the game with finacial means...) a slap in the face. Wheee we can have ONE more useless hat for being stupid enough to pay for the game at the time... Atleast we premium users dont get cut back on anything... But still when somebody buys a gun for 1,99 he is considered Premium?? Where in fucks name is Premium in that? Premium should be: players who BOUGHT the game (I payed around 4O€), instead of getting a lame item in the store. Who are we then when we dare to say I am Premium? When somebody else with a 2€ gun can say the same? Premium has that gun times 20 (money wise that is...) As I said, I am not feeling very happy about this. Premium could become a curiousity in the future... And we be the stupid ones for paying (since you will get all or nearly all items/guns/hats by receiving...) Those who feel this is a good thing, you still do? Unless you're shittin' money this will give some food for thought. Same thing with Quake Live; Id promoted this to be free of charge (F2P) but their ingame ad system didnt work and now they ask small fees like setting a private server 5€, making a QL clan? 2,5€; doing this pay up, want that? pay up... But does Id Sotware plan on giving something to paying customers?? Dont think so. Valve atleast gives us a (hugely) USELESS hat (hey look I am playing for so long; I received a fine looking hat to add to my collection other stupid useless hats); I dont care how my heavy looks like, if he gets the job done, good even without hats, caps and helmets... Those who dont want to pay are left out (this is the other side of similar spectrum) Ofcourse they are in it for the money, but promoting one thing and then backing out isnt good company policy.. See Sony and OtherOS (Linux on PS3) I just cant believe how the world is turned into one Capitalistic Paradise... Sony was hacked multiple times and now they want to get their courtspent cash back from the insurance company's... What the flying fuck? It was Sony's fault in the first place... Anyway, way off-topic... i have said my thing. Greetz Yea, I do look at things differently...
fix your sig. And valve's decision to make it F2P was based on the sales and the net worth of sales in the Mann Co. Store. The store brought in more money then the sales of the games, so they sold the game to anybody that ever would buy it/try it, and now giving everybody the chance to play it made a huge influx. The downside is that the F2P ones are now the old cheaters, which don't have to buy it anymore. For this I talked with John of UHC, and he made a edited version of Sourcebans that collects also the IP's of ppl, and bans those and their alt accounts. And no, IP's dont change much, even if they change the IP, chance is so low that another gets that IP that plays also TF2, gets on the same server, etc. As for the costs of the game, sorry, I dont agree. they paid, for whatever amount it was. With last year sale the game was 0.99 euro/dollar for a week or w/e, those have "premium" as well now. Now they have to spend 5 euro in the steam wallet, with 1 item from tf2 to buy, like 0.49 euro or w/e the cheapest is, and the rest they can use for other games/stuff elsewhere on that account. So valve makes always some money on that. The only against for me are: - most of them are noobs, haven't learned the classes at all yet, and have very bad positions with for example engy, or how they rollout on a map. - with that, comes bad class choices, having 5 snipers, 4 spy's and a medic isn't helpful. cheaters on free account, needs counter for that, see above. - cant trade, no use for them to be on a tradeserver imo.
