Before the enlightenment you are entirely right...after the industrial revolution not: Karl Popper, Karl Marx, Nietzsche, Wittgenstein (you gotta check him when your interested in language), Frankfurter schule with Walter Benjamin....etc
(of course they build up, but dont reinvent the Greek ideas)

I've read them all already. But in the end either the problems they tackle or the solutions they come up with all are largely based on what the ancient Greeks said. Witgenstein for example has a whole new way of looking to the problems, but the problems he tackles have pretty much all been mentioned by the Greeks.
