Oh no, they rolled us (Pink team) in 6v6 last year D: ! (I'm probably not right, but I def know I met these guys somewhere) Btw, we don't have 20 players. Only 1 of us filled the Doodle thingies, which means only them cared enough to go trough reading this post . That's still more than we need, but for example, tonight, we only have 3 backups if someone forgot or can't be here on time. BTW people, join dis steam group : <a class="postlink" href="http://steamcommunity.com/groups/lz-highlander" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://steamcommunity.com/groups/lz-highlander</a> ^^ yes I want you to do a lot of stuff haha

perhaps you should clean the group a bit, its full with old players from our previous highlander team ;D was fun tonight, btw! meow =)
Thnx Kittens! would love to see myself in action Btw Great match (first one was), and heard the second one was great as well. I think we will win this season
I know, but I just don't want to remove them I'm too nostalgic with this kind of things ^^ . Well I had lots of fun tonight, it was great meeting all the people I didn't know yet, and we did good for a first try together ^^ . Looking forward to our next practice/match. Don't forget to keep the poll updated (you can edit your answer, roll over your name)
LZ.H or something? I seem to remember this being suggested before, and it was a no to avoid confusion or something. Also as we are a community team the plain LZ tag may be best fitting. I'm not fussed either way. Forgot to say great match last night, shame i sucked so bad on foundry after being quite good on badwater.
Well done to everyone for what sounds like a successful practice Right, going to share my $0.02 on what I know about defending pl_badwater. Please note this is pretty much entirely from watching it on youtube so feel free to call me a complete gibbering idiot! The first and second points are ALL about high ground and even more so about the engineer. Ideally the Engineer should be placing a sentry at C here: <a class="postlink" href="http://imageshack.us/f/10/badwater1red.png" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://imageshack.us/f/10/badwater1red.png</a> . Everyone else except the medic and perhaps the heavy should consider committing suicide in this area (bind x explode) to drop yummy yummy metal for him. Most people should then take their places back up near the sentry which the engi should be wrangling pretty heavily. Once the sentry goes down it's pretty much time to give up point 1. This is a judgement call but unless there's a HUGE numbers/skill advantage we simply won't have the time to rebuild a sentry. Everyone should hightail it to the roof of point 2 where the engi should set up on the right hand side (from the roof POV) - this makes it much harder to spam. The job of everyone else at this point is to protect the engi/sentry. At 3rd the first real hold point is inside/in front of the little house. Once they have the little house it's a lot harder to stop them capturing 3rd. This is a point that it may be worth "wasting" an uber to defend though as capturing 3rd gives them the forward spawn which is no fun at all. The easiest place to defend 4th is round the corner facing 3rd and should probably be the first place people set up. Once this goes it's really tough to stop them as we end up getting flanked from every which way. <a class="postlink" href="http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Community_Badwater_Basin_strategy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Commu ... n_strategy</a> for class-specific/attack stuff, though attack is pretty much "do the stuff that breaks the defence strat"
Well it may be my fault. Have to learn a lot being medic. Eric gave me some tips after watching the match. So I'll be practicing medic for the next few days in order to improve.
Badlands isn't actually in the map line-up for this season Week 1: Badwater Week 2: Foundry & Lakeside Week 3: Upward Week 4: Lakeside & Foundry Week 5: Barnblitz Nah you did miss healing me a few times but i was missing spun up heavies and easy shot's like that, where as badwater i was headshotting like a madman at one point (think i got 3 in as many seconds)
That is where I build at first point so that is good to hear ^^ At the roof i normally set up a little more to the left since i find it easier then to defend against the spam comming from the door on the roof, but I will move it more to the right to see how it goes :3
Avatars can be done, as tags we'll use the |LZ| one. There are plans for putting up a new 6vs6 team again though, with some of the people of this team, feel free to sign up for that if you want more commitment. ^^ About the advice: The sentries were good as they were now. And the exploding thing is utterly useless on badwater. Perhaps the 1 scout should do this, but nobody else. The engy is building next to a 200 ammo pack. With a bit of planning, he should never be in distress for ammo. With the sentry placed, the rest is basically deathmatch for defending. During a match I give some general pointers for people, but besides that, people are quite free in where to go and that works great. For attacking you need more coordinated attacks, but the power of those attacks is the randomness. A move barely ever works twice, so you need to be creative and do lots of different stuff. Also: Not the entire team should defend the sentry. The sentry should defend the entire team. It draws ubers and gives a secure base. This is a fundamental thing to remember. Yes, the sentry is very important, but your life, especially as a class like demo/heavy/medic, is much more important than the sentry. A sentry is stationary and can't think, you are much better deployable. So, the engy should get support from at least the pyro and the heavy+medic should go in a bit and then return to the sentry to be safe, then get in the lines again and go back again. Just my opinion anyway.
What's the disadvantage to suiciding in setup? You get back in time. We suicide at least 3 people just to make sure the engie has enough.
He actually uses them? I've been engy on badwater before without anyone suiciding for me, and I was just fine without it. Got all my stuff up on time.
suicide in setup is always handy. just do it with a class that can get back in time, like the soldier etc. it also reduces the chance of not having everything ready, due someone picked up the metal boxes etc. the suicide trick has been used quite a lot by zippy when I was in the first highlander team. The engineer just have to make sure that the others knows and vice versa. (so that the other doesn't suicide for nothing ;D)
