I've gotta do some advertising for my map cp_snakewater, a 5cp map in a sawmill-ish setting. It's been designed for competitive play and is played in the american leagues, but the few times tf2maps have tried it in public play it's worked out really good. I think it would be great to try it out on the lethal-zone servers. That was the map for the Monday Night Madness on etf2l today. Might be cool, but I doubt if the regular pubber that plays TF2 would support a custom 5 CP map. I mean the servers already almost empty on maps a badlands, granary and fastlane.
thats the 3rth person that came for a custom map request. we need a volunteer to organise a custom day. Where these maps will be played..
I think a custom map day would be a brilliant idea both to help find maps for the servers and also help mappers improve their maps. About pubs disliking 5-cp maps: I think you should give snakewater a try - in public play it encourages flanking a lot more than maps like for example granary, and even people who dislike 5cps in general have said they liked the fast gameplay.
The issue I have with that is; Would a custom map day attract enough people to make it worthwhile?. I also think that pubs don't hate 5-cp maps, I see blands and granary on #1 and #2 sometimes, but pubs PREFER payload.
that's always been a pickle i organised custom mondays/sundays some where packed to the brim and some had to end short because people didn't join because of the download (dowloading for 20 seconds is to much i guess pffff)
Hey there ! I was thinking, maybe we could add some koth maps ? Before discovering LZ I spent a whole lot of time on a koth-only sever, and had lots of fun. It's not very different from cp's map anyway, the map is just smaller. I was mainly thinking about viaduct and harvest (<3). I don't really know good custom maps. So, do you think that could be appreciated by players ?
we DID play nucleus (however it's written haha) a while back... if remeber corectly koth maps are in the RTV (nominate) what i suggest (if more people like the idea of koth maps in the cycle) we can ad a 4th map to the vote (1 option KOTH) now we have: popular less popular customs and less popular adding a KOTH option to the vote is no biggy, but let's see what the other people think (the topcats)
matched AM2 to the same maps on AM1 (furnace, mainline will be in the vote above 20 players) and added some maps to RTV (koth and freight)

played viaduct earlier and imo it was a succes (will watch how things go now with RTV and if the maps get chosen enough i'll have will open a poll after talking with the topcat to integrate them to the normal vote) also uploaded arnold's new map "cp bazillion (b16)" on request ;-) should in the normal vote (above 20 players) and in nominate and RTV (allong with 2 other customs furnace and mainline) DL: http://maps.toaster.fi./cp_bazillion_b16.bsp.bz2 also if anybody reads this who wants the upgraded version for swiftwater and/or who want's to keep the old (current) one
Great ! About Swiftwater, I guess an update is not a problem. It's a famous custom map on LZ servers, so ppl won't be annoyed to download it =)
Swiftwater is a balanced maps if the teams have no clue what they're doing =) Pretty much as every other map out there.
