i have two issues: 1) crits. i play on the server every day, and i constantly see people complaining about crits and even renaming themselves to something like "crit magnet" or "only dies by random crits". i'd like to carefully propose some sort of crit-controlling mechanism, for example a vote at the start of the map whether to on or off crits. 2) the nominate-thing doesn't fully work. 3 people nominated maps yesterday and in the mapvote, none of them came up. this was on #1.
Easy, have them go here: 46.4.99.5:27030 [EU] Lethal-Zone.eu TF2 ALL MAPS #3 NOCRITS 8) If so many people like Nocrit.... why is it empty so often? Come back when this one is always so fully loaded we need another one. Downside of disabling critz is that it wont fill through the "Start playing" system. Hmmm.... should test this. We had an issue with nominate before being caused by default plugins conflicting. Since Snelvuur updates Sourcemod this might be the case again. Edit: Its something different. Cant tell for sure. I tested it and the map I nominated showed up fine. However the previous 4 played maps will be excluded so if they get nominated..... There's also a min/max limit for maps. So if a 20+ players map gets nominated when only 8 are around it will get excluded as well.
about the crit thingy, we could let a message pop up at the other servers like ''don't like crits? come to this server!'' could help filling am#3
it will be immensely difficult though to migrate the playerbase over to AM3. just the 15-20 people who i see day to day playing on #1 and being unsatisfied about the current system by far won't be enough. going by pure logic, it seems the current situation is this: Many don't care about crits Some hate them which would in turn mean "if we disable crits on #1, no one will complain", as opposed to now, where "some will complain". === regarding the vote-thing: i nominated tc_hydro for example, and it didnt show up. this map hasn't been played in ages and the server was full with 24 people, so the number of players couldn't have been the problem.
I noticed there's a weird trend going on. Few months ago, when we still had to option to vote for Crits on or off on #1 for example, #3 was the most popular server. Always full, long waiting-times to join the server. Suddenly, all the non-#3-servers were made random crits, permanently. Quite a shame, but hey... orders from the masters of LZ, no? Now I see that things have been shifting. #3 is not mister popular anymore, but #1 is. How come? And eventhough players don't like random crits, they still join #1 and not #3. What could be the reason behind this? I had this silly idea on Steam chat with a friend about this matter and maybe it's because #1 is actually the number one server of all LZ-servers, because it says '#1'. Silly thought, but what if you changed #1 to No Crit and #3 to a normal server like #1 is now? And also... why is #1 the only server where death-talk is on? I may be a silly thought, but the 'I can always talk to everyone'-idea can be a factor a lot of people always want to join #1. Or maybe not, I don't know for sure. Just sharing my thoughts as a regual player on LZ ^^
Is the critvote/preference gone them? I might have missed that. Valve released so many shitty updates that broke things that I've lost track. However I am working on rebuilding the AM servers from scratch again. All fresh and shiny but this wont be finished in a day. I don't mind turning off critz but we can't do that by default or the same thing will happen with the other servers as has happened with AM3... no F2P connection so its empty. If the critz thingy has changed its not because we changed it on purpose. I'll blame the updates for that. Suggestion however are always welcome and if we can do something about it we'll try our best. But there are so many things to do and so little people and/or time to do it.
The critvote was turned off, because when the crits were voted off, we lost the players that would connect from the "Play Now" function. As regulars who fill the server usually have crits disabled in their preff, it would kill the server filling process if they'd join...
interesting! so play-now recognizes crits turned off as not-vanilla and therefore refuses to send new and unexperienced players onto these servers... which is funny because no crits would actually make the game less random, more predictable and less frustrating for players new to the game. :? why dont we make #1 into the default server for regular LZ players with crits turned off and turn #2 into a super vanilla server where f2p and other people can play when #1 is full? i am sure we have enough regulars so that LZ #1 would be full all the time despite play-now ignoring it. btw, i am glad that the authorities here handle this matter in a mature way. i've been on the internet long enough to see that in most cases such careful complaints get handed differently. :|
But, what changed that makes #3 be so empty all the time now? It was filled every evening untill some months ago...
TF2 lost a large part of its playerbase after the terrible recent "crash" updates, after it gained a lot with the f2p update. A lot of people have lost interest in the game, even regular players, and likely won't return anytime soon. Then there are Skyrim, BF3 and MW3 now.
Yeah, seems like we've lost a lot of players in a short amount of time. I do hope however thats a TF2 related thing and not a LZ related thing.
With most active meaning they are always full while no one plays on the other ones. I don't think LZ needs 6 AM servers anymore, the f2p rush is over...
