i dont see how you could possibly give a flip about such little things. goodluck killvion! Spoiler shouldnt we wish him bad luck since then he comes back to us sooner?
Ah man it was soo extremely awesome! I've met so many new people who I will never forget and with whom I already made appointments to see each other again in March. I've had 6 hours of sleep during those 3 days. Lots of partying ofcourse, however we've been busy for 9 hours writing a resolution (with a group of 10, including me.) and there were 11 other groups who did the same only on a different topic. My group wrote a resolution about how the EU should react on what happened in Belarus after the recent (flawed) elections. We decided to pressure Lukoshenko both economically as diplomatically (This was a point I had to comprise with the rest of the group because I desperately wanted to invade Belarus with NATO... However the rest of the group was to cowardly to try such a thing. ) We were done with writing the resolution on Sunday 20.00. After that it got typed out by our group leaders from the EYP crew. While we were all partying in a cafe  When we came back at 00.30 we got handed the resolutions of all the other groups. At which point we had to start writing attack speeches on those resolutions and prepare for the open debate as well. That took all night until we received our "wake up" call at 5.30 that we had to "get up" because the first 2 days were at a school in Zundert, but for the real debate we had to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague. Which was kinda a problem as well btw, since I had a little tank of Butane Gas in my bag because we had to cook something there during the first day... So I had such a camping gas cooking set with me. The security saw it as a potential bomb :| At which point I was fucked basically xD Luckically the head of the organisation could verify that I spoke the truth about the cooking and after that it was okay if I just left the thing at the entrance with security and I was even allowed to pick it up when we were done at the end of the evening. In the end my school did not manage to get place 1 or 2 which would let you go to the International session of Croatia, Zagreb for place 1 or Athens, Greece for place 2. However the rest of the places haven't been announced yet. And place 3 is Istanbul, Turkey. So this whole story might get a very cool sequel. ^^ If anyone has any questions, just ask
I have a question. Who were you planning to assasinate with the gas tank ? And does this mean that my clan leader is a terrorist ? Nah, i'm really happy for you and i am confident, that the 3rd place is going to be yours !
And why? Belarus is a dictatorship. They lack the four freedoms Freedom of speech (Oppositions leaders are imprisoned) Freedom of Religion (Only Russian Orthodox is allowed) Freedom from fear (People "disappear" daily, and the citizens are frightened to death) Freedom from want (e.g. only 5% of the married women are able to get a job) The regime does not have a segregation of power (trias politika). Mister Lukoshenko has the ability to sent someone to prison or even put the death penalty on someone WITHOUT a trial. Human Rights are being violated. Minorities are discriminated by the state. We went to Iraq for less. Btw Q, you as a Russian should HATE Belarus since they are one of the few countries that acknowledge Georgia and Chechen as independent states. Your own government hates Belarus. They say the Lukoshenko can be compared with Hitler. I'm deeply sorry, I'm still stuck in debating mode
Nah that's a monitor too. ( google on studiomonitor) Your monitor is called a screen. Except in dutch, who have it all confused and wrong. Speaker is the thing which is inside a monitor, the membrane which makes the sound
I don't want to say I hate Belarus (probably because my roots came from there, as well as from Lithuania and Germany and god knows how many countries else), but that Lukoshenko make it worse every day and every hour. What I wanted to say before, is that NATO can't simply invade to Belarus. Well, at least now.
So. Today was my Selection day. Sadly I did not make it. Although I'm very very sad about this, I can still be proud that I was amongst the best 12 highschool debaters of The Netherlands. And after the pain of not making it to the team goes away (after a few weeks) I'll probably be able to look back at this experience with a smile. Now it just sucks...
To bad you didn't make it to the final selection, but being amost the top 12 is something definitly you can be proud of. It will also be nice to put on your CV when looking for work. But now you have more time for TF2 so that a plus.
