I really like the new server but it's really demotivating that people leave instantly :S

I think the "competitive" part in the name is scaring people off really. They associate it with no crits, no dmg spread, class and unlock limits etc etc.

You could call it war rotation, see if that makes any difference. The maps that are on the server are played regularly on normal servers aswell, so it's not like they will notice right away through the rotation.

Lethal Zone War Server, clan members know which server they can roll on to practice competitive maps, and your average joe player won't be any wiser. You can leave the vote for crits and mapvote on, afterall if there is a practice you can coordinate a vote to turn crits off or even password lock the server for the duration of the practice/skrim session.

We already have a private war server, so that isn't a good idea. it will confuse people.

I don't mind changing the name if it will work. But right now the name is what the server is. There is no goldbowl in the rotation. Only competitive maps.

Secondly I am not really motivated since I know in a couple of weeks this has to start all over again with the ip-changes.

ALL maps "3" (something something) just a few not standard maps :) or all CP maps?? and yes wait till after IP change this is just a lost cause (put the effort in later when it's steady)

Just name it CTF/CP Only then, seeing as the other "All maps" servers have some PL maps in them. Once the IP switch is over ofcourse :p

personally i believe the name is fine as it is. It clearly states what to expect when joining the server: competitive maps. It just takes time to build it out, you can't expect a server to be filled in 1-2-3. We need to play on it.
Giving it a fancy name won't make the server fill automatically. And if we just put comp maps in it, why can't it refer to that fact?

because imo people get afraid by the comp-idea and think only PRO's play on that server. AND custom maps aren't that populair (gullywash sucks the server dry for some reason -> do'nt get me wrong it's a nice map) this is my 2 cents but on the other hand if we can convince people to join the server it'll pick up in a few months, maybe advertise on ETF2L or something?

I think it's more the restrictions it implies, most comp servers have class restrictions, unlock restrictions and they usually have nocrit/nodmgspread on aswell. Combined with maps people haven't heard from.

The kind of people that are afraid of "pro" players tend to stick to 24/7 32 slot Instant Respawn servers anyway. They're not the crowd you want to attract to begin with :p

"Competitive" has a strong connotation of a server filled with [clan] P0wnz0r* and his friends on BLU and [nalc] D03sntM1ss3v3r* and his five friends on RED. They probably all use a private Ventrillo (or what have you) voicechat server too.

Not true of course, but the word "competitive" really does scare people away.

    * Not a real player (probably).

well, perhaps we should just rename it to:
    lethal-zone.eu | etf2l maplist then
On a side note, it's not that uncommon that clanmates or on some type of voicechat together.
Normally pub players can do too, we've got a public teamspeak available for everyone to join. All you have to do is type !ts in-game to connect to it. "Easy as that" ;-)
