lol, I saw I didn't had the milestone achievements yet.(although I was already over the amount you needed) so I went online, I killed 1 persoon and I got the achievements + all the new weapons again
Why should I mail Valve when something is working as intended? Do you mail the IKEA when your closet is working as intended? Valve already nerfed the amount of needed achievements for milestones, and the difficulty of the achievements. With the medic update you needed ALL achievements to get the ubersaw. And some where just horribly hard, while most of the achievements got nerfed even before they where released ( 10mill healing was only 1mill, punching 4 people was nerfed to 2) The sniper achievements are imo a bit laughable. Seriously, an achievement to kill a demoman? And you can argue all you want but the lesser players whined and wanted a random drop system. How nice of them to add a milestone system, now I finally have all my weapons, without farming.
Why should I mail Valve when something is working as intended? Do you mail the IKEA when your closet is working as intended? They work on the feedback they get, and most is about what peple are unhappy about. If they don't know how many people love the system, its not hard to get the impression a system isnt popular among players. Simply because people are whiners, and dont care about positive feedback or compliments in any way.
Hmm, since they brought back achievement milestones, I'm afraid I'll be playing some more sniper to get the huntsman than usual next time I play. Maybe by now most people will be bored of playing sniper and spy so I can have a few rounds for myself as sniper instead of filling class gaps
I like the fact they brought the milestones back in, but seriously only 17 for the third milestone? ok if they were hard but they're friggin simple achievs, you can get 20 without all that much trouble.
I like that they lowered the milestone threshold. Getting the 20 you needed before was usually forcing you to do the weird achievements, whereas the 15 mark could still be reached by normal playing.
I had 27 achievements without any trouble .. the achievements are becoming easier (remember the heavy achievements: kill 1000 enemies under water and other stuff like that) and now they're also lowering the milestones..
It was only 100, but still retarded seeing the amount of water in maps and the heavy is not a submarine. Lowering the milestones is ok, since they need to find a way for everyone to unlock and play. Personally I won't have trouble with needing 1/3,2/3,3/3, but that is too much for casuals and would promote farming.
the achievements aren't useless anymore back at the start there were achievements like 'uber 2 teammates at once' or 'double jump 1000 times' those are imo useless and 'require' farming the new achievements are easier to get because they aren't that hard anymore
Well, I just got my first sniper milestone yesterday, and I have to say the huntsman is pretty cute. I don't think I'll use it much ove rthe normal sniper since it lacks zoom but it's fun for a while. About achievements, for medic, heavy and pyro I have between 25 and 27 of each of them by now, all by playing normally on LZ servers, so most of them aren't impossible, some just require a little luck.
Make 5 hits in a row with your axe (pyro) Block an enemy heavy-medic uber (heavy) Heal 10.000 health in 1 life (medic) In a single life, kill an enemy while on the ground, in the air and in the water (scout) Kill the same enemy in the same area 3 times in 1 life with the C&D (spy) Provide your enemy with a freezecam shot of you taunting (everything?) Kill an enemy with a taunt (everything except medic) There are a lot of achievs that need you to do stuff that you wouldnt normally do. You have to do something you may not usually do, and really make you set a goal. You can ofcourse say that they require farming but I would like to say they require you to simply do it. I like those achievs, you clearly go out with the thought ok now I'm gonna do this...
These are not "stupid". Making 5 hits in a row learns you to use the axethinguiser on burning enemy's. Blocking uber is essential, a heavy can take a lot of hits to prevent the rest of the team from getting hurt. Healing without dieing, ain't that the medics job? Spawncamping is the way too win on payload and push maps. Uberjuggling is an essential medic skill, too bad it got nerfed so it reduces your uber time. Earlier a good medic was able to keep 3 people ubered for 10 seconds, an excellent medic would be able to keep 4 people ubered, while 5 was almost impossible.
I've seen this mail several times already and I doubt that it's real. Mini Crits with the Flare Gun on burning players sounds odd to me...
Well i don't think those minicrits on burning players are usefull since they are already losing health because they are burning. That would make it somewhat doubling.
Well, as the mail implies, there are currently quite alot of foils to the afterburn: dispensers, medkits, medics, spawn closet, water, jarate, airblast, sandvich etc... So it wouldn't hurt to bring back some of the bite it used to have and power it up a bit.
a flaregun hit does 20-25 damage on normal hit right? so with minicrits lets say... 50... the player already had to be burning... so... I dunno. but this mail is FAKE. should robin walker personaly respond to all the "good ideas" don't think so. and IF he does these things then why only sign with his first name? it would be more apropriate to use his full name. a man like him would know/do that. and the response is too short. such a "good idea" where they would have had a discussion about at Valve would alteast had goten a good, long response. Maybe the mini crits will come and maybe they are already working on it. but this mail doens't prove a thing
