So you are implying that someone that knows how to counter / play this game should get killed by someone that does something that doesn't require skill? a.k.a w+m1? Luke still owns me occasionally with a pyro. Using either airblast / axethinguisher / flare gun. I think that shows that the skill ceiling has been raised for pyro. And if he kills you now, it's because said player is better. Not o-lol-lol-lol you where low on hp, I licked you with my flame for 1 ms, now burn to death!
yeah, but it totally removed him from being the kamikaze class to damage the enemy group greatly all around... which I did often to stall the enemy from a push so the engy's on my side could build up a bit further, making the difference. now the pyro gets the guard duty on the sentries... and not lick all enemies with a bunch of damage nuff to stall, slowdown, take a couple down and them needing to reform again.... which takes time... time which could be used. by my team, and lost by the enemy team... now as medic I must chose to kritzkrieg a normal pyro and be killed quite fast, or uber him and get nothing done... maybe 1-2 kills max. If I do same on backburner pyro, were not even getting thru, cos the enemy pyro backblasts us out.
Stalling --> Defense, use a defense class. Heavy excell's at stalling groups / damaging them. If you get only 1-2 kills, you aren't ubering the right player. Pre-update pyro: 1. See enemy. 2. Charge at enemy whilst holding down M1. 3. Changes are enemy won't kill you fast enough for the flames to atleast reach him. 4. Use flame. 5. Get killed. 6. Enemy dies of afterburn. Now. 1. See enemy. 2. Think, can I charge? Should I hide around that corner? Should I backup? Can I use airblast? Should I go for the 1-2 punch? 3. Do said action. 4. Kill enemy. Pyro just got made into the class he should have been on release day. Not the no-brain run in kill half the team, leave the rest to die of afterburn he was then. But the ambushing, protecting, spy-killer he is now. I for one am finally glad that pyro isn't a "noob" class anymore. Finally you have to use your brain when playing pyro. Finally you have options, you need some kind of class mastering that is more then 20 minutes. You can finally say, I play pyro, with your head held high, and not be labeled a noob. tl;dr Don't use the pyro for the same things you did before, use it for that wich he was intended. It may have taken 2 years, but I think pyro is finally balanced. You can't use a pyro for every job anymore.
one used a pyro uber to clean out a alley/open space, now it needs a bunch to do so. If you where a handy medic, you could uber the pyro, and then run as medic close to the sentry so the sentry fires on you. that makes it easy for a pyro to get close, and take it down.... problem now is.. .he doesn't do nuff damage anymore to get it down before the uber wears off.... not that one gets close anymore anyways, cos of the spam-comp blasting....
but if you use the homewrecker you can forget it against heavies, especially with their new gained powerrrz
always go after the engineer first, same with soldier shooting the sentry is futile the shortend airblast cooldown suck imo and the same for the shortend spin-down for heavy
and no it didnt jused to be w + m1... it was hard enough as it jused to be.... now you are as weak as a baby
And there is the problem, you guys are used to pyro being a 1 solution to all class. He was never intended that way, he shouldn't be. And now he isn't anymore. Choices, choices, choices, like every other class. And if you want to kill an sg that desperatly use a demoman, it's his job after all.
that's bullshit. everybody knows that a good soldier is capable of killing anyone. and the div1 scouts have nothing to fear. they might be less good versus a particular class, but now the pyro has to choose if he wants to be able to kill, be a teamplayer, destroy sentries, tries is luck with reflecting, wants to be good on long range or more effective on short. there now are TOO many choices to be made. look at a heavy. he only haves 1 choice. with a medic: shotty, without a medic: sandvich. The rest is only personal style, do you prefer less damage but longer exposure, or more damage but less long. do you want the tauntkill, or the 5 secs of critz. those things aren't really meant to counter a specific class.
Soldier is marketed as a jack of all trades. He doesn't do anything as good as another class but does everything just fine. Div1 scouts --> skill difference. Totally different discussion.
wasn't talking about div1 scouts in pub servers, thought you were bright enough to figure that out yourself... but okay, opinions are obviously divided here and I'm tired of arguing, if you really want to have the last word, it's all yours  not getting anywhere with this discussion
meh, sometimes he can be quite good...had a kd of 16/3 yesterday  I still haven't got my axtinguisher back, so I had to do with the flamethrower/shotty tactic and reflecting..works pretty well^^ So it can still be awesome in the right hands and the right hours.
+1 if u want the w+m1 class go backburner if u want to go a litle more "pro" go normal flametrower (airblast is realy anoying in good hands)
the weapons are not the biggest problem... its just that your so weak, you can be alive the first second and dead in the second
