So what's happening with the Highlander team that was meant to get organised two months ago? As it took Valve and ETF2L two extra months to sort it out. I talked to Alias and Broodje a while back and they said I could play if LZ got a team together.
i'm kinda scared about valve releasing al the polycounts at once. If you see what a normal 3-weapon class update does to the gameplay, i certainly hope it's not going to screw up the game. I do hope they give them unique attributes, but well balanced ones. If they make them too strong, it's going to screw up the gameplay. If they make them to weak, You're going to have a ton of players running around with them because they think all the unlockables are upgrades. (been seeing a lot of backburner pyros lately) When looking at the other updates, most of them are too weak to be sidegrades, others are fun to use but still pretty weak. Then there's that very few who are actually sidegrades and another few which are just better than the originals (like the equalizer). On the other hand, without the polycounts, i don't see the trading system being used for anything else than...well...trading hats.
I can see it being used to trade not only hats and polycount weapons, but also slot tokens, and class tokens, and normal weapons. Say a have one jarate and one backburner, you have one huntsman and one flaregun. I give you my jarate for your flaregun, and voila we both have a scrap.
Well if you're still interested, I've also been trying to set up a team here : viewtopic.php?f=45&t=7160&start=0 I didn't want to make an other team, as I just didn't know there was already something planned... So maybe if there's not enought ppl we could just group the players from the two "teams" ^^
well, would not trade the first week or so if it is that fine grained. I however doubt that anything but hats or rare items will be traded. and maybe whatever comes into Misc2 slot.
Thank God for comp TF2 play. Not looking forward to the new weapons. It'll probably take 5 months before the pub play has been restored a bit. I would like to know how much interest there is in a TF2 default server. So only the default set of weapons. (perhaps only also kritzkrieg because it's the best unlock ever made).
Would be nice from time to time, but I think it would be the same as with the deathmatch server. Always empty.
had a chat with uh i think it was kittens xD about a 100% vanilla server wich means no vote, ALL stockmaps (except for junction) all standard settings respawn etc.
When you say stock maps you mean only official valve maps? Or community maps turned official as well? Or just the ones the game launched with?
I would like a server like that, most of the unlocks are for goofing off anyway. But i doubt it would attract lot's of people, unless valve really screws the pooch on the polycounts.
meh, as I see it, some weapons are just good additions: FaN, Direct Hit, GunBoats, Equalizer, Flare gun, Axtinguisher, Homewrecker, Sandvich, Wrangler, Frontier Justice, Ubersaw, Tribalman's shiv, Pain train. Half of them are situational, the others I have permanently equipped. Oh btw, if on a CTF map, you dont get crits on the frontier justice if the intel is brought to the finish by your team. If you switch after to another weapon, it wont have crits either. Very annoying.
In my opinion they should have stuck with the class updates. No over flooding with weapons, No crafting, no random drop. Except perhaps with the hats. But even there I would have rather liked it if you would get rewarded with a hat for f.e. completing all achievements of a class. (I know that idea isn't perfect). But just keep the game a bit more clear. I think it sucks that other classes then the pyro can to DoT. And although the demoknight is terribly fun to do, it strips the whole character idea. He is demoman, he is supposed to blow things up. I like (almost) every unlock valve has given us during the class updates and I'm extremely grateful for the fact that they still really care about a 3 year old game. However all those community made weapons just kinda throw the game out of balance. There is no story behind them, it has nothing to do with the personality of the class and they get thrown in out of nowhere. And one of those brilliant things of TF2 always were those personalities, the meet the class vids, the fact that class has a birthplace and his own voice. It just makes me sad.
