I don't care about the fact that you can now buy items. I actually understand that they can't just deliver free updates for years without making some money. But there's something I really hate. The sets of the Polycout pack give you, if you wear all of them, quite a big bonus. Like 20% resistance on sentry gun damage/additonal health/immunity to headshots. Seriously, is this a FPS or a RPG? Do I really need to check out which set a player uses before fighting him?
Awesome timing, ruined my evening. (didn't go play l4d2 since we wanted to do a pcw, we found an opponent and tf2 was unavailable. 50 minutes left, downloading)
This update just officially turned it into Team of Warcraft 2 R.I.P Will more then likely go off the game soon.
Actually it's kinda smart from Valve. Since you require the have the hat in order to achieve set bonus, people want the hat fast, pay for it. I'll give it a week altough I don't think I will be playing this game if these aren't options that can be disabled by a server. Or Valve realizes that set bonuses is just stupid. R.I.P. TF2 (18/10/07 - 30/09/10)
what...an economy running on real money instead of hats? BLASPHEMY! Still, those bonuses sound really lame, that's like having the plugin for saigns.de everywhere... I'm glad though that they won't suddenly are going to charge for new maps, weapons or modes.
Remove the set bonuses and it makes it fairly tolerable. Waiting for the servers to be full of semen throwing scouts now though. And yes you are right, this is pretty much borderline 'Premium'.
http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/09/30/inter ... eal-money/ Dueling does seem fun though. More items. http://tf2stats.net/all_items Glove or running urgently and a special rocket launcher for Souljah, no self damage to practice those rocket jumps!
Oh boy oh boy i just tanked the 5 miles from college in 15 minutes on my pushbike to get home and update What you have to look at with those item sets is the tradeoffs they have, take the most controversial one the sniper pack Ok so headshots wont do any bonus damage, but they also forfeit the ability to do headshots, and also give up their smg/secondary unlock The scout is the other one, ok so they have +25 hp, but they no longer have a scattergun, what good is a scout without a scattergun?
You also have to take into account, what if valve had not released the item shop? Blackmarket deals on ebay using the trade system would be rampant, i would easily expect the new hats and items to be going for £10+, least this way it is available to everyone, even if it does cost some money. Then there is the fact that you can still get any items that affect gameplay (all the new hats and items) via normals means of trading, crafting, drops.
I think they should introduce some sort of TF2 credits, which you can earn by playing the game or something. this way you can still buy the extra perks, which otherwise would be unavailable for people who didn't want to spend any money on the game. but oh well, I can't even check the store, so I'll just wait and see. it's probably not as bad as it sounds.
What Scout loses with Scattergun he gains a jar of man milk to heal everyone, still fricking annoying especially with no scout cap, 4 scouts running around healing others.
yeah I know, but it isn't the same! The trading system is great though, but I don't really find the new weapons...uhm...attractive. they're not very special. P.S.: Why is Ellis' Cap(l4d2 related) in the catalogue? it might be connected with the upcoming DLC
