also a few farming tips you can do when allone :)

Claim Jumper
Five the Fast Way
Two Minute Warring

think you can get all 3 in the first go (not sure about the last) how?

go engineer, build tele entrance, eighter go back to spawn for metal or take tele directly with you, cap mid point, go to 2nd point and put entrance down, go to last point and build exit, now go back to pervious point and cap it (be sure the exit is finished) take tele and cap last point granting these 3 :)

the 2 locked ones will unlock when you have 6 achievements (i think)

oh and enjoy the hat ^^

and i don't think they are any good :p just a nice troll weapon haha the game needs more of this xD actualy that brings me to an idea haha why not instead of getting blown to bits you start the laughing taunt when you get hit haha (that would be more enjoyable then it is now)

I'd like to post this one myself since I'm part of the organizing team of this event =D : http://www.teamfortress.com/post.php?id=7310

This is really, really cool that we get such coverage from Valve. Now I'm getting really nervous about it xD !
Tournament/server administration tips, anyone ? ^^'

have the servers up and running WAY before the lan, and make sure you have a tournament config on them. use HLSW to monitor 'm and such..

as for the tournament itself, have some helpers who scout the teams, watch out for "ghosting". If you dont know what that is, its a team member that isn't playing but is calling the shots and tells the rest of the team what to do (say its 6v6, that team has a 7th player spectating and sits on their mumble/TS/Ventrilo/we). For more spectacle, try to set up enough computers that are the same to let them play 1/2 finals and finals live on a podium (try to remember, they want to HEAR the game, so dont go bassbooming right next to them)

make sure you have screens so if the one team sits a row behind the other team, they cannot peek over etc.

in disputes by one side, first of all, involve the other team, and second, only talk with a team leader, no crowding of 2 full teams around yah making it a mess. Third, dont do it public, be available for private convo.

Have a very harsh rule: if one cheats: entire team disqualified, and announce it public. But only once you're sure of it.

password the servers per round session, and give leaders the password. have a couple people spectating them that are not of the teams fighting, but no more then 2-3.

MANY THANKS for these advices ! The "boss" of the event already told me about some of the things you're pointing (except ghosting and passwords) but my head is pretty full with stuff to think of, having a reminder will be useful). Looks like you've got some experience ? ;)

There will be 2 matches to be played on a stage (one Sat. for the public, and the final Sunday), with 3 huge back-screens for everyone to see what's happening. I don't know about "bassbooming", but players will have intra-auricular headphones + regular headphones so that should be fine.

Also, HLSW is an awesome thing :D .

Re: Team Fortress 2 Blog Topic - Lastest blog: 2/02/2012

I've been crew in Netgamez, NetWorkingDay, Teammember in Gamero (really small lan 20ish ppl), Digital (~50 ppl, monthly except summer for during the saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM). And organizing lans for deaf ppl (40-70 ppl), and been going to LAN's for near 20 years.

I've been at:
- Networkingday
- NetGamez
- TheReality
- Gamero
- Deaflan
- bout 4 other differen organisations, which names I forgot.

Have been organizing home-lan's with friends, inviting all my friends pre-summer or autumn to play and talk for the weekend, and stay 2-3 days (one started friday, and monday they called their work to take a couple days of, and they stayed till tuesday afternoon). Regular size is then 6-15 ppl.

so yeah, I've been doing lanparties for a very long time and very often too, prolly did go to over 200.

Example of it:

Apparently it doesn't continue play when doing the High5 taunt, thank God! :D
And you can't really hear it ingame with all the ingame sounds (gunshots, pl cart, etc etc)

heh, default problem, tell them to use Steam in offline mode.

All those steam clients break havoc on the outbound/inbound connections cache, and lock any NAT system in the internet router. Bigger lans have a linux network router in between, and configure those to block loads of ports that shouldn't be used (WoW etc)

I don't know if that's what you're talking about (that's not really my specialty :p ), but we used a captive portal to manage all the network stuff. I worked great once it was fixed, and we didn't have any connexion issue during the whole tournament :) . Now I'll just stop spamming this topic, I'll make a review in a new topic if I find some time.
