OK my comments on this beer topic: 1. Too many young kids here without any money... cos nobody in their right mind would ever drink Cara Pils. 2. Beer is not a question of nationality but a question of quality and taste. (Even though I must admit that I only ever had average Dutch beer; but there is decent german beer). 3. West Vleteren beer: a lot of people like it but it is not my taste. It is however recognised as a top Trappisten beer. 4. A few years ago a test was done on the "usual" belgian pils'. It was not Jupiler or Stella that won, but Bel Pils. The reason was that is was brewed in the purest way and had the least chemicals in it. Again, for you and me, it is a question of taste. 5. Please don't come out with comments saying that one country's inhabitants/products/beliefs/traditions/etc are shittier than in another. That is just total BS. 6. My personal favourite beer: the Oude Gueuze from the Drie Fonteinen brewery in Beersel. You have to go down there (or in a few shops/restaurants in Beersel) to buy it... absolutely unbeatable (even though it is a very special taste). (Second best might be Tongerlo Christmas. Not 100% sure yet).
Completely agree with that, except: 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 But I think you are right when you say that nationality doesn't got anything to do with this matter, but quality and personal taste does.
indeed I agree with almost all your points ALthough I just reacted towards the (in my opinion) dutch only beer list. And You just have to admit that belgiumis a greater beer country then holland, so at least half of the list should have been belgian, and off course a german beer would be welcome too.
Duvel and Vedette, gotta love them and in my oppinion, its not the price that makes a beer good.. so i say cara sucks like hell
If the best beer in the world would differs a little bit with the 2nd best beer; but it costs 5 times as much as the 2nd best beer ... Would you buy that beer instead of the cheaper beer that's almost as good?
we were talking about carapils, the beer that even hobos on the street don't drink (read it in a magazine with interviews with hobos) . and if they say it's crap
Bert and I aren't hobos and we think it is pretty good beer for a damn low price. So what hobos do think about it? ... Well they probably have a Carapilsgod!
OK noob here does not know how to quote two things in one naswer so I am gonna answer one at a time . I have been to Prague 4 times. I really enjoyed Pilsner Urquell down there. Howeevr there is a pub in Brussels where I have had it (its their draught beer) and I have found that it is absolutely appaling. It might be that their system is not clean though...
In life I tend (not always mind you) to have the following approach: if it is more expensive it is regularly better. As an example : (and I already know one person who will probably disagree): a rolls royce is better than a lada...
Pilsner isn't that bad indeed, and it is quite cheap too , right? They don't sell it in belgium i guess but they do in holland (Albert hein)
Yeah, kozel is also great and its even cheaper than pilsner. Here in czech republic it costs like a 0,4 euro for half a litre.
