Hey Morro, why would you need 16Gb of ram? This is a great guide to buy hardware http://tinyurl.com/FalconGuide Also, this is my newest big purchase
Haha, don't mention it. It really likes to eat away on RAM. But, as one can tell by the humble GPU, this computer's main purpose won't be gaming. It'll be used mainly for virtualization purposes. Apart from that it'll serve as a replacement for my NAS which went up in flames, and some various tasks which just need doing every now and then. (The occasional compiling and hosting).

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html i see my old rusty GeForce GTX 480 is still doing ok in the warfare of videocards. I bought this card for me a long time ago, never thought it would still be so high after such a long time.
The main problem of the 480 was the heat and power consumption of I remember correctly. Was quite a beasty card back in the days indeed.
Just a bigass fan on it and about the power, i dont care that much. Although those laptops with dual graphs in it that "start" the moment it start to do graphics would be a better thing for normal pc's too.
That is already there, nvidia has such implementation, that you use the onboard video for "windows" work and the videocard when a game is started.
ow.. well i dont know much about pc's anyways ;p i used to know lots more on that area, now i am just one of the "just give me what you got"
Thats the ASUS Transformer thing isnt it? Any good? Looks like the only decent alternative to the iPad
Yes its the Prime quad core tablet...works like a charm, ipad is a little better but I went for the flash+usb+memory extension by sd card...typing and watching movies on it.
That chart isn't indicative of real world performance in games. My card that just died is way way down on that list but i could still play just about any game smoothly on high settings (maybe not AA so much recently). My new card came this morning before i was even out of bed, i thought it seemed to good to be true, so after opening it i discovered they sent me the wrong card - a 7850 instead of a 7870. So fingers crossed i will get a replacement tomorrow, im awaiting an call from "Nick" in customer services who is getting the stock checked in the warehouse to make sure they don't just send me another 7850
