that's what I think to. but my casing is weird. you need atleast a square meter of free space to get it off. and then it's still connected with wires, which you can't get out unless you've got too much free time. I don't think it's malware though. I've scanned my computer with every proven malware scanner there is and even let guus take a look at my HijackThis logfile. (which resulted in nothing). an advice of khad was to open taskmanager and go to "processen" and check every proces that's on and google it if I didn't knew what it did. after doing that I came to the result that I've got a hell load of svhost.exe files but that seems to be normal.
What's so awesome about high max fps? Just keep my fps above 30fps and I am happy, don't care about the max.
there was a new version available but my anti virus program is convinced that is a trojan virus and keeps deleting. so I went on for a while with the old version, but that gave a nasty bug with steam. if I went in a game I couldn't leave it anymore on steam friends... it kept saying I was playing that game hours after I quited and wouldn't return normal untill I restarted steam. not very pleasant. and on second note. now I adjusted my boot up to make sure only really needed things will boot up via msconfig there isn't really anything he shut's down. so I've still got the old version but I don't use it. about the overheating. it's so weird. my pc was on for already 5 hours but when I joined a server I still had 80 fps (for 5 min after that it was crap once again).
I am not sure about this. But most of the time you have a fan on your graphics card, I can imagine that your card isn't working hard when you are on your desktop. It will start working hard when you are doing something graphic heavy (gaming). Maybe that fan is broke? I don't know if graphic cards work this way though.
I blew up my old geForce so I bought and installed a new one (geForce 9600GT) about a month ago. I'm pretty sure that fan still works fine I have this program, Everst home edition and 1 of the many thing it can do it watch the temperture of your components. after a long day my Graphics card is around 80 degrees C. after some research I found out my new graphics card should be able to handle up to 100 degrees C before you have a real problem...
Did you try posting these problems on www.tweakers.net? Those techie's might be able to help since they know a lot more then me.
Kil. I think 80 degrees is still a bit high... My mobo and case don't get over 35 when gaming.. didn't really check my gfx-card, but I have the normal fan + an extra fan on it, cause I overclocked it.. but it doesn't get any thing near 80 when/after playing.. Will check it exactly after my next gaming session.. Update. After 1,5 hour of GG and CSS, only 42 degrees... and I only have a 9600 Pro (overclocked) and CPU only 34... so... I can stress it some more..
I googled a bit for you and I found this on the nVidia forums. He is talking about a graphics card at 80 degrees. Why don't you try this?
downloading as we speak. thanks once again =) :edit: oh crap  very heavy stuff. all kinds of things I don't understand  going to search for help on this on. but not now I'm afraid, got a lot to do today...
Why don't you try testing the airflow first? Just go around your graphics card with your hand to try and "feel" the airflow.
sorry for the old topic kicking etc but I thought it would be polite to let you (or atleast ps) know, that since that I have opened my pc's casing and put a fan in front of it, my laggy days are gone! or atleast no longer so badly that I couldn't play... that made it possible for me to things I never could before because I was lagging too much to be quick enough in my reactions. for prove
