I dont mind to try stuff, but the problem remains that you need more players A server itself does not fill up.. Also what skial and others are doing with 32 player servers, is to set max players to 24, then let the server fill up with quickplay and THEN dynamicly update the maxplayers so they get the least penalty of it. Fast respawn servers should also get a penalty, if not blacklisted from valve. If you do have quickplay and end up on a server with faster respawns and its not advertising it, then it should be reported (valve words) only thing we can add is donation stuff.. and better call admin support. both a work in progress but well we do have a life too, sadly i cant stuff as much time in it as i could (before the baby) although i still manage a lot of the "really needed stuff" like freak fortress needs a big overhaul right now.
lol... This is one of LZ's few downsides as far as I'm concerned. With this being one of the main upsides. ...and this another.
Pretty sure he means the stacking as a downside. Anyways, your upside of having good players come to the server is good and bad. Whenever I play TF2 I want to relax, but if you join LZ everyone is trying to win so it can ruin the fun relaxation part, although it's good for someone who wants a challenge. Either way I don't spend a lot time there because the server has to end up being stacked at some point and it stays the same way for multiple maps. I don't know I rarely enjoy my sessions there.
And you forget entirely that good players add a lot more fun to the game. If I play on servers full of F2P scrubs i just start getting annoyed with the stupidity of my team ooor just destroy the enemy team so badlynits no fun. You dont have to be competitive to enjoy LZ servers more than others, just not a horrible player.
hmm, there is difference between stacking and stacking.... one of the servers I frequented in the past had stacking a lot, but that was on both teams where friends joined their friends in teams but as that was like 4-6 groups of friends that got split out with different groups on different sides, it became a really nice game. Not always is a scramble a good thing
I'm not asking for shitty teams. What bothers me the most is when people pull out Sydney Sleepers and Mini-Sentries :/ You can't fix that but my god is that annoying. Basically what I meant about not able to play silly. You will get shut down easily
I've never been able to understand why there is so much hatred towards minisentries. I find them fun, both to use and to fight against (As the building engie, its more fun to move around and get involved in the fighting, instead of waiting for someone to come to me. As an enemy, its more fun just cos they die alot quicker than a level3 (as they cant be repaired or upgraded) However, I agree on the Sydney Sleeper part (snipers should headshot and kill instantly, not cover players in jarate so everyone else can finish them off more easily) On the matter of donor plugins, most (if not all) features added will be purely cosmetic. It's just taking awhile to create (that and Borderlands2 is so distracting )
Eh, I dunno. If I want to dick around, I'd find some 24/7 instant respawn server instead. I play on LZ to win, and by that, I mean to get my team to win. Here, my enjoyment is the teamwork, and the winning. Of course, the random crits and constant facestabs generally ruin the fun a bit, but I can live with those. My issue is that because I play nothing but medic, I am only as good as my team, so I'd prefer not to be on the crappy team. I'm not picking a team because it is guaranteed to win, since there is no fun in that, but I'd like to pick a team where there are skilled, familiar faces. Those that know how to keep a medic alive. Also, I love the sleeper. It means that snipers cant instakill me as easily. I despise scrambles though. They are done horribly here. You scramble a few players, the affected medics lose their built up ubers.(which of course is a major annoyance for me), and the unaffected ones continue, without starting from spawn like everyone else. Either get everyone else to start from spawn, to make it fair, or dont scramble at all. Or scramble everyone right at the beginning automatically.
Unless someone broke it neither medics with full uber nor engies with buildings are being affected by scrambles. Furthermore in most cases scrambles happen at round start.
The voting process begins around the beginning of a round. The voting takes 20 or 30 seconds, which for me, means about half an uber lost. If I wasn't affected, I wouldn't be whining. As for frequency, 1 out of 100 is horribly exaggerated. 1 in about 10 seems closer to the mark.
That a >90% uber medic gets swapped mid round? Not really. The "scramble teams now?" votes at the beginning of a round are a necessary evil. You'll have to deal with being swapped with you uber removed if it happens. I might take a look at the maximum time the vote can take or resetting the round after it happened. Thats the only thing that bugged me. The rounds arent restarted after a scramble. I know theres a setting to fix that though.
Other servers just automatically scramble the teams, based on certain criteria like winning in under 2 minutes, or the ratio of red to blu kills. Those are a much more practical option, as opposed to the current voting system. At the very least, use numbers other than 1 and 2 for voting. I have found myself accidentally voting, when changing weapons. I never mentioned anything about a mid-round scramble.
A. No, auto scramble is very bad. Ive never seen it work nicely and the solution we have in place would usually auto scramble when it asks. I put this on am1 like this to avoid unnecessary scrambles that kill the server and piss everyone off. Its by far the more "practical" option. B. Just becuase you miss the point of my posts, doesnt mean Ive ever been talking about anything but mid round scrambles posing issues. The beginning of round scrambles are fine as they are now. The 1 out of 100 was only related to mid round scrambles. C. Im not sure if it's possible to just change the numbers by changing the config. I believe its hardcoded. I need to get back on my pc to write long angry posts again
can probably use tf2-style votes for this (ie use F1 -F5 like map votes) not the actual scramble that is part of tf2, just the VGUI bit
