the spy is just overpowerd mate, the other players dont have effective weapons to deal with them, they can disguise, can be invisible...
And the reason spys are normaly no problem in melee fights is because the average melee fight is only in servers with just a few people..
if the number of players increases you wont notice a spy as quickly

they didnt have a butterfly knife in the stonage my good ol chap

Not once have I seen this other than a 24/7 degrootkeep server where the Spy had been there over 3 times as long as anybody else had.

I wasn't aware that melee weapons are useless vs Spies. Last I checked, even something as basic as the Caber once blown up works against them. That they disguise barely gives them any edge since they have to put themselves in great danger, well within your fighting range, in order to get a kill. If them disguising + cloaking is tough for you to deal with I seriously wonder just how the hell you manage vs a far more sturdy class that can attack at range, say for instance a Soldier.

Don't give me that bollocks that more people is beneficial to the Spy. It is no more beneficial to him than it is to the others. Yes there's more people to keep track of but at the same time there's more people that can hit him. Again, if you have trouble tracking Spies in melee mode I seriously wonder how you do vs people who have a gun.

ps. get your facts straight. The butterfly knife, or balisong, has been around since 800 AD. They had it in medieval times.
